President Donald Trump injected doubt into whether former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani will long be representing him, when he said he 'has been' his attorney.
Trump was asked about the matter a day after two Giuliani associates were indicted in federal court on alleged campaign finance violations.
The men, both born in former Soviet republics, have assisted Giuliani in pursuit of his theory of Ukrainian 'collusion' in the 2016 election.
'Well, I don't know. I haven't spoken to Rudy,” Trump said, when asked about it.

Way wishful thinking. Completing the thought it was obvious Trump was saying something like “he has been my attorney for a while now”
“Has been” implies that he is still the attorney. Otherwise Trump would have said “was.”

That’s a real stretch. English is just not that specific, as a language. For instance, I could truthfully say that Rudy Giuliani has not been my attorney during the last week. Any inference that he had been my attorney prior to that time period would be totally unwarranted.

I am praying for this actually. Rudy may be a good private advisor but as a public face to the admin, he is a liability in my view.
