Trump has abandoned the PKK Kurds. The Peshmerga Kurds continue to be quietly advised and supported in all ways by the US. They are superbly trained, aided by Israel as well. The PKK are a communist group of terrorists who would establish a socialist Kurdistan. Trump has left the dirty work of getting rid of them to Erdogan, if he so wishes. They are based in Turkey.

Kurds? Aren’t they the ones that “walk on water”? Wait... they don’t have any water! That just okkurrd to me.
Kurds are still followers of Islam, right?
“The main religion of Kurds in Iraq and Syria would be Sunni Islam. A vast 98% of Iraqi Kurds identify as Sunni while only around 1.8% identify as Shia.”
Trump is RIGHT! Let the Muslims fight it out. Barbarian warfare. Let the barbarians settle it amongst themselves.
Trump isn’t going to be able to accomplish much more in office, even if he wins in 2020. He has very few legislators genuinely supporting him.
Primary him!
Dave how long are we supposed to leave OUR OWN in danger I think 20 years is enough!!! Some of these kids over there werent even born when this conflict started enough is enough already!!!!
Huge unforced error. A lot of us are vets and we do not leave an ally on the field of battle,
I think being in Syria in the first place was a mistake, at best. I suspect the reason Obamadork wanted us involved in Syria may have been more nefarious than a simple mistake. Doubling down on mistakes is generally not a good thing in my experience. I think getting out of Syria as soon as practical is a good move.
I heard there were something like 50 troops there. If that is true I would not think they could make much difference in a large conflict. If their presence is as a deterrent then they are being used as human shields. We know how that usually turns out. Remember the marines in Beirut? Reagan didnt get the chance to bring them home while they were alive. They had no strategic value where they were and were not even good as human shields because when they died we pulled out and left the poor Lebanese to fend for themselves. In this case we wont have to read about them dying and we wont have to suffer the humiliation of not being able to retaliate against a co signatory of the NATO treaty.
They should retreat then. You dont stand naked on a battlefield just because an ally is on the field. Dont be an idiot.
He is either totally ignorant of the situation on the ground in Syria or on the take through defense contractors. Say what? Have you guys read Neon Revolts lastest article on his website?
Big contracts and money being siphoned off or items never supplied.
So what would you have us do - stay in northeastern Syria in perpetuity, without a clear mission or exit strategy? Our troops were initially sent to the region to assist with logistics and training, not to fight. Yet they wound up fighting (and dying) for a generation. They destroyed the ISIS caliphate and scattered the ISIS command structure. They recaptured the capital of Raqqa and gave the Kurds a wide swath of land east of the Euphrates. It is past time to withdraw, and I suggest we redeploy those troops to defend our nation’s border. And it is time for our NATO allies in Europe and the sub-Saharan continent to handle peacekeeping and maintain order. We’re 7,000 miles from Syria. Those countries are closer in proximity and have more pressing geopolitical interests than we do.
At least the Vietnamese were (and are) not moslems.
Easy way for him to get his name in the paper!
Regardless, I am one who does not think Trump is God and is indeed, human. He is capable of making mistakes and this is one of them. I think Trump was supremely naïve in this decision.
Indeed. Trump is only human and can mistakes. This one, however, is an easy call.
I am against it if the open borders GOPe and Dems are for it. Send America’s best to defend our borders and not the Middle East. I say that as someone initially supportive of the Iraq War.
This decision was a no-brainer, since the U.S. troops had no business occupying Syria in the first place. Its always a no-brainer when you make a decision that outrages globalist jerks like Bill Kristol, Jennifer Rubin and Max Boot.
You are saddened for Kurds?
Where is your sympathy for American men and women.
So much energy expended for the Kurds. So little energy expended for those Americans robbed, raped and murdered by criminal aliens. If that doesn’t say it all right there nothing does.
Huge unforced error. A lot of us are vets and we do not leave an ally on the field of battle,
Given the Kurds are reportedly already releasing terrorists I think it safe to say they never were real allies.
As Ive said before ... I can only imagine what the threads here on FR would look like if the Chinese government decided to establish diplomatic and military ties to La Raza and Black Lives Matter.
So which rival Kurdish faction is it that we are supporting?
PYD/YPG?
PKK?
KDP?
KNC?
PUK?
or in English:
Democratic Union Party
Kurdistan Workers Party
Kurdistan Democratic Party
Kurdish National Council
Patriotic Union of Kurdistan
I mean if we are going to replay Bush’s foreign policy of voluntary war plus nation building, I’d at least like to know who is serving as the pretext.
