ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - As the battle between Democrats and Republicans over impeachment continues on like a heatwave in August, President Trump makes moves to remove U.S. troops from Syria.
Just hours after the decision to leave Syrian Kurds to fend for themselves against Turkey, Illinois Congressman John Shimkus calls the President's decision "terrible and despicable."
Shimkus goes on to tell KMOX's Mark Reardon that he told staff "to take my name off the I support Donald Trump list" and that he is "saddened for the Kurdish people."

Shimkus, you can take me and my family off the GOP party ticket support list. We’re voting the Trump ticket in 2020. After that all bets are off. Party loyalty is a two way street.
Who the heck is this scumbag who cares more for the Kurds than Americans. Anyway, prepare for a primary, moron.
>to take my name off the I support Donald Trump list” and that he is “saddened for the Kurdish people.”
Then you can vacate your seat and go be a rep for them.
Good luck raising money from there.
Pouty children.
I don’t agree with Trump on everything. I don’t agree with ANY elected official on everything. It’s an unrealistic expectation.
You have to hang together in the face of an enemy onslaught.
Forget this schmuck. He isn’t even running for re election next year.
I wonder what he’ll do after losing his Primary...
RINOS/GOPe unmasking themselves.
He’s to ignorant to know PKK Kurds in Syria are basically terrorists, they promote a communist state? They are not the same as the Peshmerga Kurds.
Who?
“Forget this schmuck. He isnt even running for re election next year.”
ISN”T EVEN RUNNING FOR RE-ELECTION.
About to up and vanish like a fart in the wind.
If his ‘support’ was that fragile, who needs it?
Hand him a gun and let him fight.
Americans have been there for 30 years.
The problem still exists and will still exist in 100 years.
You are saddened for Kurds?
Where is your sympathy for American men and women.
We were suppose to be in Syria to train troops and never to engage in fighting.
You are asking for mission creep in a place I doubt we should be in anyway...
Regardless, I am one who does not think Trump is God and is indeed, human. He is capable of making mistakes and this is one of them. I think Trump was supremely naïve in this decision.
Go fight for the Kurds and prove your allegiance to them...
SoS
Suddenly they love the Kurds. When we were going into Iraq citing Saddam’s bombing and gassing Kurds, the libs couldn’t give half a crap about them.
Hand him a gun and let him fight.
REMFs like this clown drive me crazy. Of course they feel like they are serving their country too, while they line their pockets from those who reap fortunes through these endless engagements.
Follow the money. The only reason these politicians support the Kurds, some of who are communists, is because they have strong lobbyists and find a way to donate money to them or their families. There are hundreds of worthy fighters around the world and Kurds are no more special than the South Vietnamese.
Yeah this is what the hell gets me these Kurds are MORE important than our young men and women losing their lives and limbs WHAT THE HELL!!! Enough is enough already it has been 20 years it is time to get the hell out of there HOW LONG are we supposed to protect these Kurds 20 years is long enough these people NEED to protect themselves!!!
