Extreme measures being considered to protect whistleblower identity [tr]

The House Intelligence Committee and lawyers for the whistleblower who filed a complaint about President Donald Trump's conduct are discussing extreme measures to protect the individual's identity amid growing concerns about his or her safety, according to several sources familiar with the process.

It is still unclear when the whistleblower might ultimately talk with the committee. But talks are underway looking at several options to attempt to prevent the whistleblower from being identified or having his or her name leaked to the press.

Among the measures being discussed are the possibility of using an off-site location, limiting Hill staff and members who would be present and even disguising the individual's image and voice, the sources said. Any secure facility, known as a SCIF, could be used for the meeting, potentially the facilities located at Langley or Ft. Meade.

There are also ways to bring the whistleblower up to Capitol Hill without being seen by the press, including what one source described as the "Petraeus treatment," referring to the former CIA Director and commander of US Central Command, David Petraeus' private testimony from years back.

An aide to one Democratic member on the House Intelligence committee told CNN that discussions about masking the whistleblower's voice and face have been prompted by concerns that Republicans could leak the individuals identity to the Trump administration or the press.

Constitution Of The United States Of America

I guess they can say that impeachment is not a criminal process...or that the rights guaranteed to other US citizens do not apply to Donald Trump.

I wonder if they think they can get away with having a vote to impeach Trump without ever revealing the leaker's identity. Maybe with the support of the media they think they can do so. Of course the Senate would then be able to subpoena the leaker.

So not only is it hearsay, but the witness could be Chris Cuomo or Michael Avennati for all we know.

Dems are riding ACME rockets to victory.

They could give the Petraeus fragment, but I would prefer the Masked Singer treatment.

The point of my post. They hold themselves to a different standard and believe that they can fabricate any truth they wish while denying Trump and his representatives the right to confront these so-called ‘whistleblowers’ in a legal public form, and refuse his counsel the right to cross-examine them. A KANGAROO COURT. This truly is a COUP. And the known parties involved in it should be charged, incarcerated, and put on trial for treason, sedition, and subversion. If it takes a period of martial law to do so, I can live with that. Extreme situations call for extreme measures. This isn’t going to be something ironed out by a few subpoenas and backroom agreements. These traitors HATE PDJT and HATE anyone to the right of them. Endgame, I’m afraid.

It’s like everything the Dems do, they accuse Trump of doing!

They prolly killed Seth Rich, so they say the “whistleblower” is in danger.

They say Trump used Ukraine to gather dirt, which the Dems did!

They say Trump skews things so his kids profit from their connections to him, but it’s actually Pelosi, Biden and others who profit from crony capitalism.

It’s like a Kafka novel, or a John Le Carre novel.

So weird.

And if you continue that same line of thought....the whistleblower probably is in danger.

I've had pneumonia for over a week and it's kicked my ass. Hard to focus of some of this stuff when you can't breathe and are coughing all the time.

Somehow I missed the Taylor, Volker, S....? email story and even after looking it up and reading from several sources, I'm not sure I still get it.

Thanks.

Wow. Enlarge the picture and look in her eyes. She resembles a dementia patient.

Look in Schiff's eyes. He's certifiable.

That's not even the scariest photo I've seen of him. In nearly every shot, the guy's eyes are bulging out of his head.

I really think it's an indicator of severe mental imbalance.
