“.. that killed gun control. ...”

Well, stalled it, at any rate. They won’t back off, ever.
So we can’t either.

I would love to see a Trump ad asking the question, “When sworn in as president we take an oath to support and defend the constitution. The democrats are running on destroying the Second Amendment. What else are they plannung to destroy?”

I’d prefer:

“Presidents take an oath to ‘preserve, protect and defend’ the Constitution. The democrats are running on destroying the Second Amendment. After 243 years of Americans owning firearms, what are they planning to do that requires all citizens to be defenseless?”

1) Government spokesman O’Rourke...

“Hell Yeah, We’re Gonna Take Your AR-15”

Who is “we” you weak-kneed, unchallenged, unipartarian, anti-American, Stalinist POS?

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn’t love FREEDOM enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.” Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn ,

***Truth be told, they want to ban them all,***

And THIS is how they said they would do it, way back in 1976. One small step at a time. The only difference is now they are going after rifles, something they said they would NEVER do.

From 1976.

Nelson T. ‘Pete’ Shields
Founder of Handgun Control, Inc.

“I’m convinced that we have to have federal legislation to build on. We’re going to have to take one step at a time, and the first step is necessarily — given the political realities — going to be very modest.

Of course, it’s true that politicians will then go home and say, ‘This is a great law. The problem is solved.’ And it’s also true that such statements will tend to defuse the gun-control issue for a time.

So then we’ll have to strengthen that law, and then again to strengthen that law, and maybe again and again. Right now, though, we’d be satisfied not with half a loaf but with a slice. Our ultimate goal — total control of handguns in the United States — is going to take time.

My estimate is from seven to ten years. The problem is to slow down the increasing number of handguns sold in this country. The second problem is to get them all registered. And the final problem is to make the possession of all handguns and all handgun ammunition — except for the military, policemen, licensed security guards, licensed sporting clubs, and licensed gun collectors — TOTALLY ILLEGAL.”

-Pete Shields, Chairman and founder, Handgun Control Inc., “A Reporter At Large: Handguns,” The New Yorker, July 26, 1976, 57-58

“Yes, I’m for an outright ban [on handguns].”

-Pete Shields, Chairman emeritus, Handgun Control, Inc., 60 Minutes interview

HCI, around 1984, suddenly made a grab for the semi-auto rifles and shotguns, and missed But they showed their hand. As a result all gun owners know we are always up against a stacked deck.

There is no such thing as an "anti-gun" politician. No such thing. They want guns for THEIR people, but no one else. That is a point that must be comprehended by the public at large.

The unvarnished truth: if Democrats had their way, bolt action rifles would be illegal.

Popularize the modern sporting rifles more (ARs, etc.). They need to be in common use to whatever extent possible. As per a decision written by Scalia, that’s legally important.

Yes. In a western culture country with western culture ingenuity, bolt action rifles could certainly be one of the greatest threats against tyranny or foreign invasion.
