The political experience is that the Executive Branch absorbs the positive AND negative sentiment of the economy. People won't know or care if the economic carnage was caused by the Legislative Branch. This is why the left has been praying for a recession. It may not be fair or accurate, but it is what it is.
Maybe Trump can turn that political experience on its head. But it would be untested AND contrary to the economic and presidential correlation of 1 over the past century.
