Considering myself to be part of the “white community” would be racist, right?
That cuts both ways.
Well Abraham Lincoln was a Republican and tens of thousands of Republicans died during the Civil War. The Republicans also or working in the south after the war to combat the KKK and the Jim Crow laws. Know the real truth is that the schools and the media don’t tell the story of the Republican Party accurately.
HOWEVER, the “black community” more than any other group, by rates of 90%+, consistently votes Democrat. Why should conservatives then, go out of our way to appeal to a group that totally sides with the party of their own slavery, Jim Crow, segregation, and now, the abortion of their own race?
I see it.
I often think this. It’s not intended to alienate, rather just assumes that there’s not many black people here.
...but it is true, I agree with you. Unfortunately it is also statistically true that black people disproportionately commit more violent crime. So when an article doesn’t mention color - we’re quick to point it out with the sarcasm “...of course we all know”. This wouldn’t go unnoticed by anyone of color, it’s just not friendly.
Anyone saying FReepers ONLY judge individuals, not collectives, isn’t being honest with themselves.
Conservatism isn’t a club. If it’s what you believe, vote accordingly. Not many blacks voting for conservatism.
Your last sentence highlights the entirety of what was wrong with that article.
And how you have missed the point too.
Conservatives welcome everyone.
What do we need to do to indicate we welcome the ‘black community’ except promise the freedom to be left alone from big government? The same government that has destroyed black families and made millions dependent on that government?
See my last post for how dumb this whole idea is.
“I thought this was an excellent essay, and a very interesting alternate perspective.”
I did too.
“If you look at a lot of the posts that show up on FR, you’ll see how alienating a lot of the stuff we post here actually is, to right-minded Black people.”
Agree. Sometimes I imagine the above is being done on purpose.
Pure B$.
