Democrat Sen. Dick Durbin has temporarily delayed Sen. Mike Lees green-card giveaway bill to Indian graduates because it does not give away enough green cards to foreign graduates from many countries.
Durbins block sends Lees business-funded bill back into closed-door negotiations where business lobbyists will keep trying to redesign the nations immigration system. The lobbyists are seeking to boost their corporate revenues and profits by steering well-paid jobs away from expert American graduates and their college-graduate children.
So far, no GOP or Democrat senator has spoken up to protect millions of American college-graduate voters from this joint effort by the Indian government and U.S. investors to transfer millions of jobs in American office parks to low-wage India, via the expanding U.S.-India Outsourcing Economy. The intended transfer of white-collar jobs mimics the disastrous transfer of many blue-collar jobs to low-wage factories in Chinese cities, following Congress approval of a free-trade treaty. [...]

As if we don’t have enough mediocre programmers already.
Ping
Yeah we really need to import more people to crap on the streets
Sooner or later, we will need American engineers and programmers to fix the incompetent Indian workers output.
But by then there wont be any American engineers to fix things.
Maybe those gender studies majors can fix the problems.
So the Greed Lobby is still not satisfied with how many serfs they can import from India and other sub-standard countries. After all, if they wash out at their jobs, the U.S. taxpayers can always supply funds for their welfare payments. That Sen. Lee should be brazen enough to keep pushing this American Worker Replacement Bill shows how corrupt the Senate is. It should be abolished because it no longer serves the citizens of the country, only the corporations.
STEM = Hard
Gender Studies = Easy, you don’t need to study and you can spend 4 -6 years in college (for free if Bernie/Warren get their way) partying, getting drunk/high
I still blame publik skools for this, they dumbed down math and science so much that the high school graduates are practically worthless in this area.
[Perhaps if more than 3% were getting STEM degrees, it might work out. As it stands, today, there are none. ]
Wasn’t this supposed to be voted on yesterday?
Immigration is their scam - it must pain him to see Lee playing his party's game.
They have never forgiven American IT workers for demanding - and getting - market rates during the dot-com boom. They work very hard to make sure that can never happen again.
But even beyond that, IT as a discipline is not valued by American industry. It isn't seen as a key part of the business, but as something many prefer to outsource, when they can.
Exactly. It’s not a long term career for most. Sure there are exceptions and I’ve heard from several here, but for most of us? Over 40 and out. Once out, getting a new job is nearly impossible. Good luck even getting an interview. Age discrimination in tech is so powerful that even being part of a “diversity” group can’t override it. Why the heck would I ever encourage my son to go into this field... He’s seen what has happened to me and so many others we know.
That's the problem with governmental laws and regulations;
they are inspired and directed by lobbyists and special interests.
The Founding Fathers were inspired by "What is good for America" and unifying the country together.
Today's politicians are controlled by "What's in in for me".
We may have a pipeline problem - but as it stands, today, there are 3.5 un- or underemployed STEM-educated Americans nationwide.
Lee and other traitors hoped to pass it with no vote aka "unanimous consent". Durbin threw a monkey wrench into the cowardly works.
Bush League Republicans have been in on the immigration scam with Democrats for at least the last 30 years.
Just cancel it altogether ,most of them are probably Spies for the Chinese anyway
