Iran’s Supreme Leader Approved Saudi Attacks: Washington
Oilprice.com via Yahoo ^ | September 19th, 2019 | Irina Slav

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei approved the attacks on Saudi oil infrastructure, a U.S. government official told CBS, adding that the approval had been granted on the condition that Iran’s involvement could be denied.

If what other U.S. officials are saying is accurate, this condition has not been met, however. Earlier this week, a team of U.S. security experts who traveled to Saudi Arabia to examine the wreckage of the drones and cruise missiles fired against Aramco’s Khurais field and the Abqaiq processing facility said they had determined the weapons were manufactured in Iran.

They also showed surveillance footage of incoming drones, although there was no footage of the actual hits that caused fires at Abqaiq.

Now, CBS reports that the circuit boards of the missiles can be reverse engineered, which would reveal their route to their target. What’s more, however, according to the U.S. government sources, there were satellite images showing the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps preparing for the launch of the missiles at the Ahvaz Air Base.

There have been calls for a U.S. military response to the attacks, but President Trump has taken a guarded stance. While ordering the Pentagon to draft several response alternatives, the U.S. commander in chief said "There's plenty of time to do some dastardly things. We'll see what happens."

A government source told CNN there were going to be "No knee jerk reactions to this - it's very systematic - what happens with patience is it prevents stupid moves."

Everyone knows it’s Iran who did this.

That is not the question for any sane person.

The questions is, Now What?

My advice is wait.

The Saudis have a pretty good airforce.

Let them take care of it.

I hear that Saddam is trying to obtain yellowcake from Niger. I know because US government officials said so & the media reported it.

Trump’s advice is to do nothing unless Saudi Arabia pays us a trillion dollars to defend them.

I hear Iran murdered hundreds (thousands?) of All American boys and girls in Iraq. Interestingly, the media rarely reported it.

Iran wouldn’t have even been in Iraq if the retarded baboon in the White House hadn’t authorized the invasion of the country and the toppling of the Ba’athist government there in 2003.

Is it your position that the US has no interest in ensuring the free flow of oil from the Gulf, which supplies 20+% of the world’s oil?

True.

But what does that have to do with the now?

And what does that have to do with the hundreds of US Soldiers they have killed? Or, is it your contention that has nothing to do with now?

One of their self-activated cells will take out Manhattan one of these days.

Maybe then we can take off the gloves.

The U.S. may have an “interest” in it, but it sure as hell isn’t a compelling one.

Calling the “free flow of oil from the [Persian] Gulf” a critical U.S. interest is ludicrous when we have Federal courts issuing rulings to stop the free flow of oil right here in the U.S.

Sure it is.

Until gas is $6/gal in Houston, our allies are crushed and our exports are down 30%.

And Iran is in possession of that 20% supply, fueling their military ambitions.

[One of their self-activated cells will take out Manhattan one of these days.]

If they could you know they’d use civilian airliners to do so.

If Iran gets a functioning nuclear weapon, or should I say “when” - I still expect them to hit a port city somewhere in the lower 48. Or perhaps should I say, it would not surprise me.

But then, no crazy Muslims would ever fly hijacked airliners into commercial office space buildings, either. /shiny side out

It would be nice. Just like Sheikh Yassin and Rantissi, too.

It has everything to do with the now. Compounding idiocy and foolish mistakes is no way to govern a civilized country like the U.S.

See Post #163 in this thread:

In a nutshell ... ten years ago the recently-departed National Security Advisor of the United States was giving paid speeches to an exiled Iranian terrorist group that had militants operating in Iraq during the U.S. occupation.

See Post #225 in that same thread. He was just one of many in a bucket full of @ssholes from the D.C. Swamp who were doing the same thing. You can read all their names there in the link posted in #225.

The days of Alberta’s Child accepting the bullshit propaganda I read and hear from the U.S. government are long over.

“War on Terror,” my ass.

If cheap oil is that important, then wouldn’t it be easier to depose Federal judges that block the supply of oil in the U.S. instead of looking like fools and complaining about cuts in someone else’s supplies?

How about Canada? They have a dipshit prime minister named Justine Trudeau whose political party is blocking exports of Canadian oil to the global marketplace. When does the U.S. topple THAT regime? We aren’t even pushing them to free up that oil as a condition of a trade deal we’re negotiating with them NOW.

You should make sure to mention the Terrorist group you mention (MEK), and is referenced in the article kills only Iranians. But not average Iranian citizens, but those associated with the nuclear program and other state security operations.

And important distinction, no?

Invading Iraq and deposing Saddam was inevitable. Too much trouble caused for too long. Brutal dictatorships should not be allowed to stand indefinitely.

1. The MEK militant outposts in Iraq were actually attacked by the U.S. after they bombed the U.N. compound in Iraq in 2003.

2. If they only kill Iranians, then what were they doing in Iraq?

The days of the U.S. pissing away thousands of lives fighting in someone else’s civil wars should have ended after Korea. This should apply exponentially in Islamic dumps in the Middle East where tribal loyalties are more important than any outside ties.

You’d think intelligent FReepers would have figured this out after what the U.S. went through in Afghanistan after arming al-Qaeda’s predecessors during the Soviet invasion.
