Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) backed up The Princess Bride star Cary Elwess dismay at the notion of a potential remake of the 1987 classic on Wednesday.
Theres a shortage of perfect movies in this world. It would be a pity to damage this one, Elwes tweeted Tuesday, paraphrasing a line from the film, in response to a Variety article that quotes Sony Pictures Entertainment CEO Tony Vinciquerra as saying very famous people whose names I wont use want to remake the film.
I have never agreed with a statement more, Cruz tweeted Wednesday, quoting Elwess tweet.
Cruz has repeatedly discussed his love of the fantasy film, reenacting the scene where Elwess character Westley is revived from near-death in front of an Iowa church congregation during his presidential campaign in 2015.

Another friggin’ remake...reboot...or whatever it is called this week.
Don’t give them any ideas.
Lolol!!
Agreed. It’s as ridiculous as a remake of True Grit.
Yeah Ted! Pick up that important mantel of not remaking a Rob Reiner movie and meeting with a B-actress over gun consfiscation. And this moron wonders how a bigger idiot like Beto almost beat him? Maybe Texas should tell him why he’s there in the first place! Texas Nothing! Twitter, Everything!
Still waiting for the live action remake of Shrek
One can't help but wonder if great nations giving up a strong national identity leads to their downfall.
Well, I’d say in before the Ted Derangement folks comment, but never can seem to beat them to the thread.
It’s like some folks sit around all day watching for a Ted Cruz thread so they can bash one of the five or so conservative senators we have in Washington.
Above all, don’t remake “Robin Hood: Men in Tights”.
They do. :)
A remake of Princess Bride is a ridiculous idea.
Millennials can’t create :-*it!!!!
Would music be considered “artifacts”?
There is absolutely no question the best music in the history of mankind was produced “in the 60’s through the 80’s”.
Ive always compared sampling in raps and hip hop to how the Romans reused statuary in things like the Arch of Constantine. Definitely a sign of decline.
I think it would, since music now has a physical component.
Need a like button for this.

Theyve run out of ideas folks, remakes are their only option anymore.
Not really. Hollywood is ran by bankers. The will not take risks on anything that they don’t think will make money. That’s why you see the independent film companies in Georgia taking more risks and Hollywood stuck on stupid with Super heros and making Disney cartoons into CGI. Waiting on ‘Song of the South’ zippidy do dah
Fake news! The last “classic” film was made in 1974...
Hollywood is morally bankrupt. They no longer have any creativity. They are so far Left now, whatever they touch, they destroy.
