Not really. Hollywood is ran by bankers. The will not take risks on anything that they don’t think will make money. That’s why you see the independent film companies in Georgia taking more risks and Hollywood stuck on stupid with Super heros and making Disney cartoons into CGI. Comparing the movies of the last 40 years since the end of the big motion picture studio companies, I think we are poorer for it. Whatever we may fault those companies with in retrospect, they produced many top quality pictures that are rarely matched by today’s independent system.

Really; I see remakes of movies that weren’t particularly memorable (Flatliners, Pet Sematary) and realize they simply have nothing else - no more original ideas. Haven’t been to a theater since the last of the Hobbit movies (and they weren’t so good).
