A North Carolina high school punished several of its cheerleaders because the girls dared to be seen supporting President Donald Trump.
At the end of August, two girls from North Stanly High School in New London, N.C., posted a pre-game photo of themselves holding a Donald Trump 2020 banner that read, “Trump 2020 Make America Great Again.”
According to the Stanly News & Press the girls were celebrating the school’s “American Night” at the football game where students were encouraged to wear red, white, and blue colors to show their patriotism.

The school claimed that when the girls published their photo online, it made the school’s snowflakes feel “uncomfortable.”

The school did not report just who made the complaint, but they attacked the girls for making a “political statement.”
“Stanly County Schools never makes political campaign endorsements,” the school district said in a statement. “These policies ensure that all students, staff and visitors are able to attend school events in an environment that promotes students and not a particular political viewpoint.”
The school sanctioned the girls and placed them on probation for the remainder of the football season.
“One of the rules we have is that every contest should be conducted in a wholesome, athletic environment,” North Carolina High School Athletic Association Commissioner Que Tucker told the paper. “We take that to mean that it’s in an environment where good sportsmanship is shown, where people feel safe … that respect for all people participating is being shown.”
The paper added that the school punished the girls because “the incident caused concern for many and helped create a negative athletic environment.”
The school offered at least one laughable proclamation: “Stanly County Schools respects the rights of its students, staff and visitors to express their opinions in a respectful manner on their own time.”
Clearly this is not true if they are punishing the girls.

Don’t see a problem with this. The LEFTISTS run our public schools, ALL OF THEM, and they have the right to run them as they wish.
After all, they don’t answer to us, they answer to the people who collect the taxes and pay them.

I suggest anyone who wants to regard this as a forum that actually lives up to the audacious name of Free Republic should start respecting Freedom of Speech of others and not just for themselves, simply bypass postings by authors one does not like, allow others to read what they like, and, last but not least, not encourage self-appointed, repeatedly vulgar, occasionally obscene, and usually off-topic, hall-monitoring trolls of limited erudition like humblegunner.

What has happened is that a multitude of leftists have moved from New York and New England over the last decade, and are working feverishly to turn NC into an anti-American sh*thole like the States they ruined before migrating south. I have in-laws who are presently doing exactly what I’ve described here.
Are these schools institutions of learning or are they indoctrination camps for Democrat Party politics?

Easy one: It’s been invaded by a multitude of Leftist Yankees from New York and New England looking for another State to turn into a socialist sh*thole!
We all owe a debt of gratitude to freerepublic, it having been the first major conservative message board on the internet. For years and years this site enjoyed a sterling reputation, a trace of which still survives.
It was the first, the biggest, the best.
It was, in fact, a pretty happy place to be. But with the constant toleration of old grouches, even those who build fraudulent "about" pages implying they've been banned, I've seen lots and lots of good people drift away.
You’re over the target, except that it’s not just the “newbies” from the North. They’re also those from the North who went to Florida, and, for whatever reason, decided to go back as far as North Carolina. Locals, several years ago, tabbed those folks as “halfway-backs.”
