The Trump administration is moving forward with a plan to revoke California's authority to set its own vehicle greenhouse gas standards and declare that states are pre-empted from setting their own vehicle rules, three people briefed on the matter said on Thursday.
According to Reuters, President Donald Trump met with senior officials on Thursday at the White House to discuss the administration's plan to divide its August 2018 proposal to rollback Obama era standards through 2025 and revoke California's waiver under the Clean Air Act to set state requirements for vehicles, the people said.

One of the first things on the agenda is to go back to normal gas cans.
Amen, brother! Those gas can regulations COULD NOT have been drafted by anyone who has ever used a gas can. People who use a gas can regularly will invariably modify the new ones. Why? Because they don't work and spill and create more fumes than the old ones ever did.
Now people throw away the EPA spout and use a funnel or an aftermarket replacement spout, and add a vent hole by punching a hole or using a fancy aftermarket vent kit. There is no better symbol of a clueless oppressive bureaucracy than the new style gas can.
Allowing California to have its own rules run counter to the Commerce Clause.
It allows California to set up barriers to commerce.
It never should have been given this authority.

The standards California proposed are likely in line with where China, Japan, Koran, and Europe are headed. The auto manufacturers see the writing on the wall. Like it or not, they will need to get near the California standards to stay competitive in the world.

I have a large zero turn mower and a tractor. I had to buy a special “wide mouth” funnel so I can simply take the top off the gas cans and dump the fuel in. And it would be a lot safer if the new ones had an air hole like the old ones do. I’ve learned to stick a long rubber line in for air when I use them. Works great.

TSC ( tractor supply) has gas can hoses and vents that will fit every gas can, that WORK, and they are pretty cheap.
About $10 to make your gas can pour it’s contents as fast as you can dump it.
