President Trump on Wednesday ripped his ex-national security adviser John Bolton, calling him Mr. Tough Guy and asserting that hed damaged Trumps effort to cut a nuke deal with Kim Jong Un.
John wasnt in line with what we were doing and actually in some cases he thought it was too tough what we were doing, he said.
Mr. Tough Guy, you know, you had to go into Iraq. Going into Iraq was something he felt very strongly about, the president told reporters after a White House meeting on vaping.

He is also a man that sees fit to take on many personal vendettas.
*********
Yes, he is. And he also has an oversized ego. But like you, I’m OK with a few imperfections given his accomplishments and uncompromising devotion to the country. Patton had some rough edges too but he was a great general.
With Trump, what you see is what you get. He’s not a phony like everyone else in DC. And that makes him very special (as he himself would say).
You're too kind. Bolton took the job to undermine the President and preserve globalist/warmongering policies that have been in place since GHWB advocated for regime change as national foreign policy. It was no better than it would have been if Mitt Romney had been made Secretary of State.
I'll go full-out conspiracy theory here. Lots of things have happened to stop President Trump from negotiating deals that would bring our troops home and make the world more stable. Things that would make no sense for our adversaries to do.
The ChickenHawks are the ones who are so willing to send other folks kids to war, when they didn't go and their kids have no direct knowledge of military sacrifice. I support a strong military, but not a misused one.
Think back to when DC finally started listening to demands to end the war. It was when the Lottery System was made part of the draft, and their relatives and loved ones were going to have to do the fighting.
Never kick the dog AFTER you through him out of the house... Your wasting your time, and just making another enemy.. :(
I don’t know if much of what President Trump does has unintended consequences. Getting rid of Bolton is a step which most sane US citizens agree with, across the political spectrum. The Dems have their debate tonight. Tulsi Gabbard is not included because they did not count the polls in which she met their threshold. The timing brings home the message that the Dems would rather talk about impeachment (yawn) than ending the warmongering ways of Globalist manipulators.
John Bolton is an honorable man who has America’s best interests at heart.
He’s not a “war monger”, he sees America’s enemies for who and what they are, and he is not afraid to tell it like it is.
If so, why did Trump boot him?
Hes not a war monger
Except for all the wars he has wanted to start
Exactly...first term was about hiring people who have been there so you can learn the ropes of the job.. second term is getting rid of the Bushies and the Obamas and Clintonites and trying to turn the ship around before it is too late.
Some guys wanted to go. Who’s to say what guy took his place?
Well I seem to be the only FReeper who will admit it, but I backed taking out Hussein. Would do it again.
Agreed.
No, it was when the democRats started playing funding games and preventing Nixon from taking it to the North like Trump would.
Nixon would make progress, and Congress would demand a cease fire. The North would promptly resupply, and off they’d go again.
Nixon came very close to getting the North to scream uncle. The Left couldn’t have that, because it would have shown up their inability to conduct a war.
Johnson was a literal nightmare of a president, when it came to Vietnam.
If the U. S. hadn’t opposed the takeover of Vietnam, the whole region could have gone.
While I don’t like the way the war was conducted, we could have won that war. All we had to do was open up on Hanoi and level it.
Nixon was making headway, but we had our Commies entrenched in those days too.
Baby boomer here who missed the draft by one year. America was thrilled to end the warmonger ways. South Vietnam fell and it was none of our business. America elected a peanut farmer and got hostages taken in Iran. We didn't do much except elect Reagan who won the cold war, not with treaties but with defense spending and warmonger ways. Bush followed with warmonger ways for oil stability so America elected Clinton who ignored OBL. We lost at least 3,000 dead but that was just the start. Bush gave America revenge and warmonger ways with more dead until America elected Obama. We got the real war, Afghanistan, Libya, ISIS & Syria. So now Trump.
Rejecting the warmongering ways of Globalist manipulators is not always easy when everybody lines up to kick Uncle Sam in the a$$ and take his wallet. Never forget 9/11 :-)
911 happened because we weren't defending our skies anymore (fighter planes were on standby) and we had people in the US who should not have been permitted to be.
Which part. LOL
The military industrial complex defeated the Soviets who had their own military industrial complex. Someone should have warned about the education industrial complex which gouged the public with high tuitions and enslaved our youth in debt for worthless brainwashed degrees.
Best post re: Bolton/POTUS
“Some guys wanted to go. Whos to say what guy took his place?”
>>>>>>>>>
One of your defenses of Bolton was that everyone did their best to avoid serving at the time.
Therefore, highly unlikely the guy who got drafted in his stead wanted to go either.
I’d be curious to know how Bolton would answer the question.
There are always outliers in any situation. A clear majority doesn’t mean nobody wanted to go.
I said everyone, and figuratively that was accurate. There are still people who want to serve with honor and they volunteer or at least answer the call, even in situations like Vietnam.
We never take 100% of the eligible kids. There are always some folks who don’t get drafted.
I’ve heard folks trash Reagan and Trump. They railed on George W. They’re Leftists trying to rip our guys for hypocrisy. I don’t think we do our cause any favors by joining the Left in that.
Our desert fighting capabilities were enhanced during the war with Iraq.
We are going to have wars from time to time. To keep operationally sharp, I think you pretty much have to.
It’s not a good place to be in where only a very few of your active military has any war-time experience.
The civilian death toll was estimated as this: 183,967 206,642
Now, how much of that was Iraqi citizens, and how much of it was insurgent terrorists? There were even domestic terrorist to boot.
Is it good for the U. S. to have reduced the populace of folks who thought terrorism was a great thing to pursue?
That’s 200 thousand or so less al Qaeda or other domestic terrorists. That’s 200 thousand less suicide bomber, IED planters, main street markets being targeted in the future.
The nice thing is, Iraq worked as a magnet, with terrorist just lining up to be retired. I’m not seeing that as a bad thing.
