Then win the Presidency Mitt Romney, if you can. So far you keep showing you are a loser when it comes to that office. In fact you have been a loser in every office you have held.

Romney's suggestion reminds me of the hilarious episode in the history of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs back in the late 1970s.

Harold Ballard, the owner of the team, fired coach Roger Neilson in the midst of a long losing streak. Neilson was very popular among the Toronto players and fans, so there was a huge outcry to have him re-hired. Ballard really didn't want to do it, but he had no choice because nobody else wanted to take the job.

He gave Neilson his job back, but one of his conditions was that Neilson had to wear a bag on his head while coaching his first game behind the bench. LMAO.

Neilson refused, but he did get his job back for a while before he was canned for good at the end of the season.

“If Trump endorsed Mitt, Mitt would disagree.”

Trump DID endorse Mitt and give him money for his campaign.
Mitt lost and showed his true self by repeatedly stabbing Trump in the back. If he weren’t a p***k he’d be nothing.

Let us lay down some first principles.

Donald Trump is a patriot; John Bolton is a patriot.

Patriots who are reasonable men can differ especially about complex problems involving myriad nations around the world, some possessed of the bomb, some of dubious rationality, many of whom represent grave security risks to the United States.

When I was young, the left were doves and the right were Hawks. Today, although the lines of crossed and in between the lines is a large no man's land, it seemed the tables have turned and the right now tends to be more isolationist and the now left tends to be more interventionist.

Trump has had a very poor record in his personnel dealing with foreign affairs. His first Security Adviser, Flynn, was a disaster. He fired his first Secretary of State over policy differences. His Secretary of Defense quit on him over policy differences. Now Bolton. Virtually all of these men left his service in disagreement over policy.

There is a complete flip-flop on left and right versions of the proper relationship between Israel and the US. The left, exemplified by Barack Obama and The Squad now seldom bother to hide their anti-Semitism. The right, especially the evangelical right, fervently support Israel. Whether one supports or opposes Israel has profound implications for whether one is a hawk or a dove.

The big risk in the removal of John Bolton is his replacement, whether if not in actual body but in virtual fact, will be JoVanka. It is not clear whether JoVanka will be hawkish or dovish, especially as it relates to Israel.

In my judgment, it is as foolish to be an isolationist as it was in 1939. It is also my view that it is foolish to be a reflexive interventionist as it was in Vietnam or Iraq. It is utter folly to conduct foreign policy by enslaving it to ideology. It is wrongheaded to support John Bolton so long as he is in the good graces of Donald Trump and to oppose him because he has professional differences over the proper conduct of foreign policy.

By all accounts Bolton resigned after an argument but Trump attempted fake news to make it appear he was fired. If that is so, it represents a serious weakness of character. It also appears that the men had honest disagreements over policy and Bolton took the honorable course. It is not clear the Trump has behaved as honorably. The whole history of this affair, of course, is not yet available so we must await the judgment of history about this give-and-take. Likely, Bolton feels aggrieved enough to go public with his disagreements with the president. I'm not sure that is proper even if he was done wrong in this exchange.

It also is entirely possible that Bolton was fired because it became known in the press that Bolton advised Trump against the Camp David fiasco, that is, it was wrong to entertain the Taliban in Camp David three days before 9/11. Events clearly have justified Bolton's position. Is that why Trump fired him? If Bolton leaked his opposition to the press, Trump acted properly in firing him.

We must await more information.

Yep - I like Bolton for what he is but agree that if Rand Paul says it needed to be done and Mittens says it shouldn’t have been done, I’ll listen to Paul......of course, Paul was just agreeing with President Trump so that’s the actual basis....

I think your post diminishes the real story underlying Bolton's dismissal.

This wasn't a matter of two men having honest disagreements about "policy." It was a case of two men who had general views on foreign/military policy that were diametrically opposed. It baffled the hell out of me when Bolton was hired in the first place, since he had a long-standing track record that was completely at odds with Trump's core "America first" campaign theme in 2016.

Hiring Bolton to be his National Security Advisor was the equivalent of hiring Al Sharpton to help improve race relations, or hiring Stacey Abrams to be a national advocate for physical fitness. It made no sense at the time, and Bolton's entire tenure must have become a farce very shortly after he was brought on board.

Mitt Romney's disappointed....ICING ON THE CAKE !!!

Thinking about it, there was real danger of a coup with Bolton in charge of State along with Romney polluting the Senate.

Romney solidifying his role as heir to Maverick McCain. The immediate go-to guy when the media wants a Republican to criticize PDJT.
