Rand Paul: Trump Firing John Bolton Was ‘Necessary’
Breitbart ^ | 10 Sep 2019 | JOSHUA CAPLAN

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) on Tuesday praised President Donald Trump for firing National Security Advisor John Bolton, saying the move was a “necessary action.”

I commend @realDonaldTrump for this necessary action. The President has great instincts on foreign policy and ending our endless wars. He should be served by those who share those views. https://t.co/XEBwzySxac— Senator Rand Paul (@RandPaul) September 10, 2019

Hell no. Paul’s foreign policy would be no different than Obama’s. He’s soft on crime as are libertarians.

Can't argue with this. Bolton really seemed out of place in this administration from the moment he was brought on board.

Heck -- I could never figure out why President Trump would hire a guy who would have been slated to get a top cabinet post in a JEB BUSH administration.

Rand Paul's foreign policy would be identical to the foreign policy Donald Trump campaigned on.

I think Bolton often gets a bad rap, but he wasn’t a good fit for this administration. Bolton’s foreign-policy philosophy, love it or loathe it, was not what Trump was elected on in ‘16. Good idea to part company.

I believe it was Bolton who pushed to withdraw from the loony toon Iran agreement.

I agree with you 100%.

Hiring John Bolton to be a senior advisor in the Trump administration is like hiring Michael Moore to be your personal trainer. It's such an awful fit that you can't imagine why it was ever considered.

I can see the “team of rivals” approach to some degree, and how having a Bolton around to give you the neo-con perspective might be helpful. But it has to become tiresome to always find a key advisor always on the other side and basically telling you what not to do. That’s really not what advisors are for, I mean if it was then he’d be better off with George Conway than his wife.

My take on Bolton, unrelated to foreign policy philosophy, is that he must be right up there among a handful of people in the world, who have in-depth knowledge of foreign politics and foreign historical events. This knowledge could be very valuable, if not presented with too much need for influence in the decisions, which may be Bolton’s downfall.

Most people not named Barack Obama or John Kerry would have pushed to withdraw from that agreement.

Heck -- the U.S. would have withdrawn from the Iran agreement even if Hillary Clinton was the President.

Remember something about that issue in particular: One reason for the strong consensus to withdraw from that agreement was that the senior ranks of both major parties in this country are littered with people who are basically paid agents of the Sunni Islamic governments of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, etc.

Rand Paul is the best choice to carry the Trump agenda in 2024 and beyond.

He would do well to jettison Pence for him in 2020.

Nonsense. Paul is absolute isolationist.

Trump campaigned on peace through strength, destroying ISIS and standing up to tyrannical Muslim nations like Iran.

A President should surround him with people of different opinions, but at the same time, he should make it clear that he will make the final decision.

Things were going real well with negotiating and building relationships with leaders around the world, until John Bolton got involved.

I think Bolton’s a patriot, but his policies begat the Obama presidency to a large degree if we’re being honest. The left will turn any GOP-led war into a Code Pinkathon, which is why it’s crucial that we be highly judicious with how, why and where we deploy our forces and make sure the public is solidly behind us when we do.

That’s nothing wrong with having a hawk as an adviser to help you consider all options, but if Bolton had his way, we’d be fighting wars on 2 or 3 fronts right now. You think Trump gets reelected in that environment? No way.

We were never going to turn Iraq into a stable democracy. Islam is simply too backwards for that to ever happen and Hussein parlayed it into a miserable 8 year presidency. For the sake of Trump (us), it’s better that Bolton is gone.
