I like that our SecState is a former top spook as opposed to a windsurfing traitor, a Helen Thomas lookalike who didn’t realize she was Jewish until after she was AARP-eligible or a pant-suited gas bag with a penchant for mideast trim.
It’s like Communism, with a God. Completely, totally, incompatible with the West. That our “leaders” are either willfully ignorant of this is astonishingly bad. The secular asshats have attacked religion through lawfare for decades now, even having pretty much outlawed the Easter Bunny in the public square, while at the same time our feckless bureaucrats are now importing Jihadists. What could go wrong?
My guess is that yes the Afghan situation has a good chance of having something to do with it, but it was Pompeo and the State Department, not Bolton, that were taking the lead on that situation. So, if Afghanistan is part of the background in why Bolton is leaving, I suggest that it is Bolton who decided on his own to leave; because likely he is in a “I told you so” position with respect to what Pompeo and the State Department did not, and were not going to, achieve with the Taliban. But, instead of Trump firing Pompeo and the U.S. negotiator with the Taliban, when Trump announced the talks with the Taliban were dead, he, Trump said he is keeping them on. If that is the case, I suggest, that Bolton then decided he had no voice with Trump, so why stay.
Now then, what I hope to G-d is NOT the cause of Bolton’s departure is that Trump has the presidential virus of insisting on leaving a “diplomatic” legacy and is willing (maybe more willing than Bolton) to making a deal, ANY deal (like Obama did with the Mullah’s in Tehran) just to claim such a deal as a “success”, and with Bolton gone MAYBE Trump will make compromises with North Korea and or the Taliban, just to make a sows-ear of a deal and call it a silk purse - for his legacy. I AM NOT SAYING THAT IS WHAT TRUMP WILL DO. I am saying I hope it is NOT what he does.
One could only hope that Trump would get rid of Jared and Ivanka!

Just sayin’....since John Bolton’s been there, President Trump’s negotiating skills have diminished. One can’t help but wonder if John Klingon Bolton lusts for forever global warmongering.
I feel that it takes all kinds, and Bolton was very good at times when we needed to be tough. However, I do not feel we needed to do kinetic strikes over downed drones.

We do need to be tough. That doesn’t always entail military action.
For example, there are lots of ways we can “get tough” with China short of fighting them.
We can sanction them, especially Xi and his associates. We can freeze their assets. (Maybe even nationalize Chinese assets and sell them off to Americans, or failing that, Westerners?) We could ban American companies from doing business with the regime. Take away Most Favored Nation, or whatever they call it these days. And there are other measures.
If we’re going to do tariffs, do we want to consider export tariffs on goods going to China, as well as import tariffs on goods coming from China?
None of this involves firing a shot at anyone.
Why put self defeating export tariffs on goods going to China??
Bolton helped cleanse the deep state National Security Council. I wish Pompeo would do the same for Stae. I gave up on Gina at CIA and Wray at FBI before they were confirmed.
