Voters are almost evenly split over whether President Trump will win his bid for reelection in the 2020 election, according to a new national survey released on Tuesday.
The Hill-HarrisX poll found that 40 percent of registered voters said that they dont believe Trump will win reelection, while 39 percent said that they thought he would win a second term.
Twenty-one percent of those surveyed said they were unsure about the presidents chances for reelection.
Younger voters were least likely to be optimistic about Trumps odds.
Of voters surveyed aged 18-34, 49 percent said they didn't think Trump would be reelected. Of those aged 65 and over, 44 percent shared the same sentiment.
When broken down by gender, 47 percent of women said Trump wouldn't be reelected, compared to 33 percent of men.
Trump, who formally launched his reelection bid in June, has had relatively steady approval ratings for a significant part of his presidency, hovering in the low-to-mid-40 range.
A RealClearPolitics average of polling on Tuesday showed Trump's approval at 42.6 percent.
The Hill-HarrisX's own survey conducted less than two weeks ago showed his standing among voters slightly higher, with 46 percent approval.
However, it appears the president is slipping among some key voting blocs, including women. Several polls show Trump's job performance slightly down among women voters as his campaign ramps up efforts to energize that base.
The Hill-HarrisX survey was conducted online among 1,001 registered voters between Aug. 23-24 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.
60% thinks he wins!
I think back in November of 2016....there was a 95-percent chance that Hillary would win.
In most elections the split is much closer to 50-50.
Trump is doing fine.
Exactly...
How about a poll asking if citizens feel a communist will be elected?
On election day 2016 the media were crowing about Hillary Clinton having a 96 percent chance of being elected and Trump only 2 percent. So, more than a year out from the election and only 40 percent (probably mostly democrats) think he will not be reelected is actually excellent.
If we have this many inane polls now, just wait a few more months.
Nixon got 60% against McGovern the year Wallace was shot. With no 3rd party of note can Trump do it?
Each month, as that number declines, the Partisan Media Shills will print the same text with the number changed, and act as if it had never been printed before. Thanks Red Badger.
If he runs against Biden, yes.
Polls Lie About Trump, Here's How:
1) a poll of "registered voters" not likely voters reduces Trumps numbers by 5%
2) a lopsided weighting in favor of the Democrats reduces Trumps numbers by 9%
And that 60% is without them even asking me!
40%-45% will always vote Rat
40%-45% will always vote GOP
Battle is always for the remaining 10%-20%
very similar to Romney’s 47% statement.
When I voted for him in November 2016 - I thought as I entered the polling place in Tierra Verde, FL that I was reducing the margin of victory in FL for Clinton by one vote. Pleasantly surprised later that day, but I was not confident at the time I cast my ballot.
Will gladly support his re-election, and feel that he will get lucky in terms of the opponent the Democrats select. Assuming Biden is out - none of the others are a threat. Assuming that Biden is in - Trump will take him apart like no other Republican could, or would.
What I do not see now, and I hope emerges (soon, please) is a real national strategy by the GOP to retake the House.
Remind me again, how many or what percent believed Trump would not become POTUS or that Hitlery would win the election by a landslide?
Trump Has No Chance #325,341
The same 40% who still think that Trump lost the 2016 election. You know, the stupid voters.
What percentage thought he wouldn’t win last time?
