It’s probably impractical but I’d like to also see a news blackout. Whether they taken dead or alive, their identities should never be disclosed to deny them the notoriety many seek. Call them John Doe #X and execute them after a very speedy trial.
It won’t stop them from killing, some engage in suicide-by-cop antics and some even kill themselves at the scene.
But there is no sense in paying to keep them alive for 60 years or trying to rehabilitate the criminally insane who were identified as criminally insane before they ever picked up a gun.
And yet in Arkansas, some minors who engaged in a deadly school rampage shooting were released by age 18 (one recently died in a car crash).
Great idea, I hope it goes through but it’s likely just VP Pence kicking it up a notch to dispel his “weak” image.
Personally I’d rather a stronger VP pick for ‘20, like Allen West.
This won’t stop any of them.
Many of these shooters ultimately kill themselves before capture. They go in full aware it’s a suicide mission. So I’m not sure how increasing the punishment will have any effect at all on this.

It will not make any difference. Many of the shooters kill themselves on the scene or it’s suicide by cop. If fact, I would think that most of them would be more inclined to fight to death and start wearing suicide vests which might make things worse.
I don’t think that there would be any way of concealing their identities because any such legal action is a matter of public record. Allowing the state to sentence someone to death without revealing the name and reason for the sentence is not a very smart precedent.
On sight works for me, if the person is on video committing the acts.
Just line them up and shoot the legs out first, then hands and arms, the stomach area, then the chest followed in a minute or so by the head.
Make it as grisly as you can, and televise it.
Do it with a clearly visible easy to read question that reads?

Re-instate the second amendment in full, and fire, fine and imprison any governmental official who infringes it.
THAT will put a swift halt to violent crime, and save lives.
This smells of ulterior motive. I do not really trust Pence, nor do I trust a justice system that cannot give a reasonable assurance of law and order in its own prisons.
Short drop, no good, nationally televised....watch them dance and try to scream..... THAT would be a deterrent
This would never happen, but perhaps there should be two categories for first degree murder.
Person A is caught red-handed committing a first degree murder. Schedule a quick trial, then a quick execution.
Person B is convicted of a first degree murder through DNA or witness testimony. That evidence could be faulty, or tainted. Who knows? I’d be much less likely to advocate for speed in those cases.
It will do little to stop mass shootings since most mass shooters have a death wish to be accomplished by “death by cop”.
But even if it only stops one, it will be worth it.
What really is needed is a non-invasive way to identify the nut cases before they commit the crime.
In this case, as in almost every other including the 9/11 terrorists, there was ample warning ahead of time and no one did anything.
