and make it public.
Just execute them for dealing drugs, and they’d never get around to carrying out mass murders.
So they will end up killing more white convicted killers, since they get most of the publicity.
Public hangings—or pay per view electric chair session? Make money on death. Maybe a lottery for an executioner to pull the switch. Or use them for blood to help those injured. Bleed all the blood from them on national TV. I have no mercy for such monsters.

Personally, I believe that TEXAS & the USA’s federal prison systems should return to HANGING. = QUICK, CLEAN & ALWAYS WORKS.
The corrections departments of several States & the mass media have suppressed the TRUTH, which is that “lethal injection” is anything BUT quick or even sure to cause death.
(As a retired LEO, I have numerous friends at Huntsville & in other States, who tell me that at least FOUR States have “come near to” being faced with a convict that was NOT killed by the injections & could well have lived “as a vegetable” for YEARS at the public’s expense.)

The death penalty is never a deterrent for these people.
The State and the media are always trying to draw attention to the issue so they can divide the public, create controversy over civilian gun ownership and eventually confiscate guns.
If we need to underscore anything it’s exposing the media and the State’s desire for gun control. Keep things in perspective, mass shootings are a very rare cause of mortality. Democide, or death by government killed 250 million in the 20th century. People need to take responsibility for self defense and be aware of their surroundings.
I’m curious to see how they would expedite the appeal process.
We need to turn it back. You take a life you give up yours! period, we need a fast track to the chair. No more lethal injections, there needs to be a painful harsh execution. We now have DNA testing use it across the board to make sure we are executing the right person for the crime. This sitting on death row for 20 years, life, and several life terms is the most rediculous. get the deterrent back in play
It will be very interesting to see what the House Democrats do. If they pass it, they will enrage their base that passionately opposes the death penalty. If they reject it, they will be seen by moderate/swing voters as protecting the lives of mass shooters. It’s a win-win. Good job, Mr. Vice President.
Should apply to mass KILLERS. Why limit the legislation to shooters?
Oh, I see it applies to mass killings. Good.
They are selecting soft, no gun zones as targets. Tactical units will arrive, but only after the shooter has killed a few or many, depending on how “well conceived” their plan was and how “skilled” they are with their weapons.
Airports, courts, police stations are no gun zones for civilians but because of security, they are hardened targets.
I really don’t believe that most of them are deterred by the thought of being killed. The really horrific massacres are pre-meditated and carefully selected by individuals with decent training and/or experience in firearms.
Sod off, swampy.
It won’t deter anyone crazy enough to commit a mass shooting. They’ll want to go out in a blaze of glory, maybe make some speech about whatever it is got them riled up in the first place right before hanging or sitting down on Old Sparky. How long did it take to execute John Brown, and how long did it take for some people to start talking about him as a martyr based on his parting words. Same thing. On the other hand, at least that mass shooter will be dead, and that’s a good thing.
So when a mass shooter is making his plans, he can shoot himself when someone with a gun shows up, get shot by someone else with a gun, or die by execution.
I don’t see where the deterrent is.
Not a mass shooting, but the mastermind behind the 9/11 attacks has still not come to trial, 16 years after his arrest. Unconscionable delays! The trial date is still two years away. At least it will be a military trial at Guantanamo.
In this era you also need enough due process to rule out the possibility of computer faked video framing an alleged perp. Although in many mass shootings there is overwhelming eye witness evidence with perp literally caught in the act.
Where’s Judge Roy Bean when you need him? An immediate public hanging aired on national tv would help.
Indeed.
