Stanford University is pushing a separate physics course for minorities in hopes that it will result in more diversity among physics majors.
A 2016 survey revealed Stanford’s physics department to be one of the “least diverse” departments within the institution, and the university has since embarked on a mission to resolve that supposed concern, according to a university news release.

Stanford’s alternate version of this course, Physics 41E, boasts additional class time, as well as “learning assistants,” individuals with a “passion” for “education equity,” who are paid by the university to guide students through the difficult course.
The university says this modified course helps to increase diversity in the field because “students from underrepresented groups often don’t have the same level of preparation from high school as their majority peers.”

Back when I was growing up dogs ran free and dumped whenever and wherever they got the notion.
People dumped indoors are maybe in the woods.
Today - citizens are required to walk their dogs on leashes and pick up after the dog takes a dump.
PEOPLE dump on the sidewalks....and NOBODY wants to clean it up.

I looked into those Stanford math classes, and some of the things they’re teaching kids are completely irrational!
A relative teaches junior high school kids math. They are almost all minority with a handful of poor whites from the mountains. It’s a highly sought-after “magnet” school with generous scholarships.
The administration just changed the grading policy for the new 2019-2020 school year: 20% tests; 70% ungraded class work and 10% homework. I remarked that the little darlings will game the system and not turn in any homework since it is weighted so low. She said that won’t happen because they are too dumb to understand percentages and weightings!
Not a problem... as long as WE are paying for it.
