The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) took its first step in moving Washington-based staff out West, offering up vacant, but perhaps lower profile positions to staffers, despite objections from lawmakers.
The Department of Interior announced in July that it would leave just 61 BLM employees in the capital and move about 300 other Washington-based employees to offices closer to the public lands they manage.
In an email to staff sent late Friday and obtained by The Hill, BLM head William Pendley encouraged staffers to apply for vacant positions that have been moved out West as part of the agencys effort to relocate most of its D.C.-based staff.
Pendleys email comes as some lawmakers on Friday asked the agency to suspend its relocation plans. Lawmakers have raised questions over whether such a move is even legal.(?)

This BLM internal hiring control will remain in effect until qualified and interested [Washington Office] BLM employees find placement in western locations, or as otherwise determined by leadership, whichever may occur first, Pendley wrote.
Title of thread suggest employees of Black Lives Matter are being relocted to Western states.
I recognized that but we’re not supposed to rewrite headlines.
The kicking and screaming of Washington bureaucrats faced with the prospect of having to live around the people they supposedly “serve” tells you EVERYTHING you need to know about the “Deep State.”
Funny how the “lawmakers” never get this upset when thousands of people lose their jobs at some plant that gets closed and the equipment moved to China for production there.
or when Byrd moved many agencies to WV
“Funny how the lawmakers never get this upset when thousands of people lose their jobs at some plant that gets closed and the equipment moved to China for production there.”
Exactly!!
Move all of the federal jobs out of DC and scatter them in rural areas of the country. Most of the far left wing liberals currently living off of the government teat will quit and any jobs that need to be done can then be filled by conservatives.
Kansas would be a good place for a new WH and capital building.
It seems fitting that the Black Lives Matter administration should relocate to Iowa and Idaho.
While I’d like to by sympathetic to those forced, as I have been, into a job-related geographic relocation, I’d be a lot more sympathetic if I didn’t detect a clear impression of the tragedy of the elect being forced into the company of those whose opinions and lives do not matter. Banished from the corridors of power into the hinterlands of those who...well, who actually do something productive for a living beside directing the efforts of those who do. It must be a jolt, but I’m sure they’ll survive.
I think they could take this approach with almost every Federal agency starting with the top third of the FBI.
“Move all of the federal jobs out of DC and scatter them in rural areas of the country.”
What do you have against rural folks?
Yup. And no one is even tip-toeing around the subject of responsible spending. Pathetic politicians.
Not for nothing....but makes sense.
Man, ya gotta love that William Perry Pendley. Just get some of his books and find out what a wonderful person he really is. God bless our triumphant Trump for appointing him!!!
My tagline is around one year old...
The budget will grow every year and the president will continue to sign either continuing resolutions or budgets that Congress passes. No one from either party thinks or worries about the deficit anymore including the current president. It's just too big to get under control and really is not an issue with the public anymore, either.
I'm sure you have noticed that the issues raised for the 2020 race has not included fiscal/deficit issues from either side.
I guess you can continue to whine, but no one is listening.
Laramie is beautiful this time of year, and only an hour from the Cheyenne airport.
You are right. The geographical center of the lower 48 is in northern Kansas.
