Vermont Is Going Insane. Will the Rest of America Follow?
American Thinker.com ^ | August 22, 2019 | John Klar

This spring, visiting professor Ryszard Legutko was prevented from speaking at Vermont's prestigious Middlebury College due to strident opposition by extremist and intolerant students. This was the second such embarrassment for the college: writer Charles Murray and a Middlebury professor were insulted and assaulted there in 2016.

Professor Legutko recently related his perspective on the experience, revealing that the college not only caved to the disruptive and disrespectful students, but legitimized their conduct! Further, the students have set out to proscribe future discourse that might again ignite their sociopathic anarchy.

Last year, our nation's children walked out of high schools to complain about school shootings. Encouraged by teachers and principals, these students proclaimed that they would finally end school violence by effecting changes to national gun laws. Many have praised these optimistic youths; others have condemned them. Both approaches are wrong.

Addressing the rebellion of America's youth in the 1960s, writer Wendell Berry remarked that "this generation is as subject as any other to intelligent scrutiny and judgment, and as deserving of honest criticism. It has received much approbation and condemnation, very little criticism" ("Discipline and Hope," 1970). Mr. Berry argued that the '60s youths correctly criticized their parents' world but that without guidance, they eventually embraced those same values in new forms. Thus, the Flower Children took root in Silicon Valley, where they now grow bald while the military complex and industrial waste flourish.

Same sort of kids back in Russia prior to their revolution that brought in communism. It was the students and not the workers that brought it about.

Youth will be served, and the children shall lead. Is that where we are going?

David Hogg will lecture us?

next up, that girl from Sweden, Greta is going to lecture all of us about global warming.

This reminds me, during the debate over homosexual marriage, there was an event where a boy of about 10 was speaking out how he was all in favor of homosexual marriage. And the lesbians running that particular event lectured the audience as to how important it is, to look at the issues through the eyes of a child.

I take exception to all of this. I don’t want to kowtow to children and teenagers, who by definition do not have the maturity or life experience to have realistic opinions about anything.

Some astute observer pointed out that there’s a reason why you never see this kind of behavior from students at trade schools.

Unfortunately the solution to all of this is not intellectual or academic. It doesn’t lie within the realms of more education, etc. At some point in time it’s going to take rough men to right-size this Marxist takeover and put the communists back into the closet.

The Constitution is,to the world's Maoists,a “living document” so it can only follow that the 1st Amendment is a “living Amendment”.

For the love of God people.. Do Not keep sending your children to Liberal schools.. They are not educating them.. We all know they are brainwashing and indoctrinating them. No lable of ‘prestige’, no high-paying career is worth the destruction to our society.

In a related vein, note how the infamous Squad of freshmen representatives seem to be running the congress. They know nothing yet they command the stage.

Not that long ago first term congressmen never made waves. It was unthinkable for them to do that. But today, people who have served in congress for a mere eight months want to determine how the country is run.

The country really is upside down in so many ways.

“Same sort of kids back in Russia prior to their revolution that brought in communism. It was the students and not the workers that brought it about.”

Students were the joiners, not the leaders.

That time may be coming soon. If the Socialists and the Communists steal the 2020 election with massive election fraud including millions of illegals voting, that will be the end of the ballot box as a means of course correction. I just doubt that there are enough citizens who are prepared to rise up, however.

Pretty sure that most of Middlebury’s students come from weelheeled families from all over the country. It’s a very competitive liberal arts college.

Last year, our nation's children walked out of high schools to complain about school shootings.

Locally, the kids were informed that if they did so the results would be the same as if they ditched for a concert. Zero tolerance.

Unfortunately the solution to all of this is not intellectual or academic.

Definitions warranted.

INTELLECTUAL: An individual educated beyond his intelligence who is unwilling or unable to create or provide goods or services of value to others, who pontificates and expects to be paid for it, usually from public funds.

ACADEMIC: An intellectual hiding out in a college or university to avoid real life.

Well from reading about the revolution the students instigated it and then the workers joined in.
