Biden Doctor Insists: Former VP ‘Has a Brain That Is Functioning’

Doc: Dem frontrunner definitely doesn't have brain damage

Something is happening behind the scenes within the Democratic Party. Former Vice President Joe Biden remains the prohibitive favorite to win the nomination, even as he continues to commit word gaffes with his mouth.

Many still consider Biden to be the most "electable" candidate, but some Democrats, including some of his own aides and supporters, are beginning to express doubts about the 76-year-old's intellectual capacity.

It would appear that the Democratic establishment, in its desperation to prevent Bernie Sanders from winning the nomination, is keen to develop a contingency plan in case Biden falters.

Team Biden is on the defensive, and has even wheeled out the former Veep's brain surgeon to reassure skeptics that he's totally fine and definitely doesn't have brain damage. It's not the most reassuring claim to have to make about a presidential candidate, but here we are. Politico reports:

The two brain aneurysms Biden suffered in 1988 were fully treated and he showed no signs of mental trouble as a result, said Dr. Neal Kassell, who performed the surgery on Biden three decades ago. Nor did Biden suffer any brain damage that could come back to haunt him in old age, Kassell said.

"He is every bit as sharp as he was 31 years ago. I haven’t seen any change," Kassell said. "I can tell you with absolute certainty that he had no brain damage, either from the hemorrhage or from the operations that he had. There was no damage whatsoever."

Kassell went on to say that he planned to vote for "the candidate who I am absolutely certain has a brain that is functioning. And that narrows it down exactly to one." It is assumed, but not entirely clear, that he was referring to Biden.

Nevertheless, Biden allies remain wary and are said to be considering a scaled-back campaign schedule in an effort to limit the candidate's gaffes, which risk undermining his new campaign slogan about the country's need for "strong, steady, stable leadership."

His brain is fine. Low mileage. Never been used except on Sunday.

Well, yes, it’s functioning in the sense that he’s breathing, walking, talking, etc. But clearly not at an appropriate level.

The scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz felt bad about his lack of brains, until the Wiz gave him a piece of paper - a degree.

Dopey Joe got doctor’s note.

Joe Biden may end up being revealed to be like his own seven dwarves - Sleepy, Dopey, Creepy, etc.

There really needs to be a serious analysis of the 1987 incident in which Biden made 4 specific claims (about academic standings, awards, and scholarships) which were simply not true. Not close to true, clearly false. He did this in the aftermath of a NH appearance before a group of teachers, presumably Democrat friendlies. On the was=y out hs was challenged by someone in the crowd about his stance on a policy issue and the essence of Biden’s response was “I am smarter than you. I am better than you. Therefore I win the argument.” It was the quintessence of arrogance. Viewed on the basis that the claimed factual premises were false - and they were falsehoods in verifiable areas (i.e., reports could check these claims), you have t question Biden’s mental health. Likewise the Kinnock speech - how could he have kept reading a speech that talked about highly personal experiences that were true of Kinnock, but never applied to Biden’s history? What kind of mental illness allows him to read that speech? I understand he would blame it on his speechwriters or suggest that someone loaded the teleprompter incorrectly, but he still read it. The man has serious problems, and this should be examined now for the benefit iof the Democratic Party, or later, the Rebpublicans.

Biden’s opponents could never pay enough for this kind of a story.

“but my doctor says my brain works. He said it works real good!”

“but my doctor says my brain works. He said it works real good!”

Reminds me of the supposedly true story of an unreasonably persistent attorney questioning a pathologist about a brain he had removed and whether the victim could still be alive. Punch line could be changed from "Well it's possible he could still be alive and practicing law " to " Well it's possible he could still be alive and running for the Democrat nomination for President"
