The chairman of the Senate antitrust subcommittee used to be one of Googles chief Republican antagonists. What changed?
When Eric Schmidt, Googles executive chairman, appeared before the Senate antitrust subcommittee in September 2011, one of his toughest questioners was Sen. Mike Lee.
You've cooked it so that you're always third, the Utah Republican snapped at Schmidt, pressing him about a Google price comparison tool that, the senator said, often yielded results that were good for Google. Senator, I can assure you we have not cooked anything, Schmidt retorted.
It was the nearest the hearing had to a standout moment, and the tech giant took notice. The heated exchange dramatized the fact that Google had few allies among conservatives, who could normally be relied upon to defend a big company against government regulation.

Tucker nailed this jerk hard on tonight’s program.
Senators and Congresspeeps....for sale, trade or barter!<<
Im afraid you are right...its human nature...

Everyone thought he was angling for a Supreme Court spot but good ole money worked its magic.
I would imagine that Google would love to have a SCOTUS judge in their pocket. Hopefully won’t happen any time soon.
Why is everyone giving Eric Schmidt a pass?
Google was a sort-of normal company, just doing their geek thing until he took over, implementing his malicious agenda ... he’s the jerk who likes dealing with China and using Google’s influence to shape the political agenda
Eric Schmidt is scary
He was always a weird dude. Has anyone checked him for a day pass at Epstein’s Pedo Island? Maybe he’s a Mormonian? Part of Romney’s posse?
Could be...
I saw that, what is sad is that he portrayed himself as a strong Constitutionalist.
Mike Lee and his brother Stephen (chief justice Utah Supreme Court) are the main reasons Harry Reid wasn’t indicted in Utah on two bribe charges. They lived down the street from Reid growing up in DC and Reid was their Mormon family counselor.
I despise this loser. Remember him red-faced, shaking & screaming at Trump from the 2016 Republican Convention.
Yeah, after the IPO Google investors wanted a “business manager pro” brought in so Larry Page & Sergey Brin hired Schimidt (formerly of Novell). He “monetized” the search company (AdWords, etc.). Was probably responsible for initially removing the “Don’t be Evil” slogan from the company (now back).
Senator Lee became a Bush League Republican.
he portrayed himself as a strong Constitutionalist
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And yet he backed an ineligible Cubanadian for President.
Mike Lee’s problem is having Mitt Romney stuffed up his magic undies!
Nothing changes as long as we are stuck on stupid with these idiots! Read the tag line and OBEY!
Worst politicians money can buy.
The fact that they can be bought is not so shocking.
The shock is that they can be bought so cheap, mini-fractions of pennies on the dollar of what their paymasters will gain.
Mike Lee is a scubag and a terrible person
