On August 13th, 2019, I went to Tecate to see, if they had started building the planned new fence there. Tecate is about 20 miles east of San Diego/Tijuana. There is a contract with SLSCO Ltd. to build four miles of 30-foot-high bollard fence to replace the old, dilapidated landing-plate fence. I found that they had already started building the fence two months earlier. About a mile and a half of the fence had already been constructed.
SLSCO Ltd is based in Texas. This company is receiving hundreds of millions of dollars to build border fence in California, which might have gone to companies in California, except that construction companies in California do not bid on these projects. This is due to massive threats of boycotts by liberal lawmakers in California against those companies, which might dare help build Trumps Border Wall.
Roger wrote us last week:
Dont be fooled by recent articles. Updates of a very ineffective, existing fence in a high traffic area is much, much better and more useful than building a brand new fence in a low traffic area. Updating the inadequate, old fence should occur first. There are hundreds of miles of old fence that should be a priority and needs to be replaced.
Last week we posted
New Data on Current Wall Construction: New 15-Mile, 30-Foot-High Secondary Border Fence Continues Near San Diego

Absolutely true. Ax yourself this question.
Which is better, 15 miles of replacement fence in a location that gets assaulted by thousands of ILLEGALS A DAY or 15 miles of 'new fence' in an area that is rarely used by ILLEGALS?
Bollard fence is not a wall.
Bollard is metal rebar to cover with concrete.
Concrete walls can be built with peep holes.
At least metal rebar is a start.
That is a trivial attempt to place your own misguided opinion to replace the design engineers that developed an effective cost effective solution
A truly inane and mindless comment but thanks for participating.
Some on FR get caught up in the "new fence vs. old fence" argument. The old fence, in most cases was no fence. I've had calves that could kick their way through a lot of this so-called "fence." Good riddance to it!
Build the Wall. Kick 'em out!
We need to enact The List of Comprehensive Immigration Enforcement. The wall is just one of many necessary adjustments we need to make.
The List goes like this -
1) southern barrier;
2) require eVerify to hire;
3) end all chain migration;
4) birthright per Minor v. Happersett (plural parents);
5) end work visas;
6) 10-year moratorium on all new applications for citizenship (40 years to allow workplace automation effects on downsizing population);
7) Set up an illegal aliens victim restitution fund.
Enactment of these provisions will motivate illegal aliens to SELF-deport.
Also consider reciprocation of the laws of the countries of origin of the illegal aliens. For example, Mexico doesnt allow land ownership or voting to immigrants, and doesnt honor birthright citizenship like its citizens expect from the U.S. We should offer the same deal to them.
Bollard is not rebar. Its a rigid structure, usually pipe or I beam stood up in a concrete foundation to prevent damage or entry from vehicles or foot traffic. Rebar is not considered rigid, and is used only for enforcing concrete. Your info source is incorrect.
A primer on the problem...
The CA/Mexico border is 137 miles long.
The NM/Mexico border is 210 miles long.
The AZ/Mexico border is 389 miles long.
The TX/Mexico border is 1254 miles long.
Won't be easy. But it can and will be done. This ain't the Alaska Highway nor the Panama Canal. If Demwits had not sued for every inch of ground we could have had this thing up already!
Republicans who want more legal immigration must not have to drive in rush hour traffic.
When watching that video, I laughed at the folks who claim no new miles of fence have been built.
We’re talking about 30’ vs 8’ fence here.
That eight foot fence was a joke, and everyone knew it.
By the end of the year we will have 17.8% of the 1954 mile wall built.
Next year they get to start spending that $4.5 billion the SCOTUS just cleared for use.
If we build the same amount of wall next year, we will have over 35% of the wall completed. If we build double the wall we built this year, we’ll have over 52% of the wall completed.
Nobody else was seriously talking about building one mile off wall, let alone what Trump has already ordered built.
Still not tired of winning.
Thank you Mr. President!
We’d certainly be further along, no question.
I doubt we’d be done, but half would already be up.
I won’t be surprised at all to see half the wall completed by the end of next year.
