Engel wants staffers to warn foreign governments about spending at Trump’s hotels

A new directive this week from House Foreign Affairs Chairman Eliot L. Engel instructs staffers to warn foreign governments that spending at Trump-owned properties could violate the Constitution’s emoluments clause.

The memo, released Monday, issues guidelines for staff engaging with foreign governments. The directive signed by the New York Democrat is aimed specifically at the committee’s majority staff. Republican staffers were not given the same instructions.

“When meeting with officials from a foreign government, please inform them that by providing any form of payment or benefit to a Trump-owned property their government is facilitating the president’s apparent violation of the Foreign Emoluments Clause,” the memo states. “Please urge those foreign officials to transmit to their governments that the House Foreign Affairs Committee requests that they cease and desist payments to the Trump Organization unless and until Congress approves the emolument, as provided in the Constitution.”

How is it an emolument if the property is providing a service to said foreign government representatives?

American Heritage dictionary defines emolument as the following:

emolument
n. Payment for an office or employment; compensation.
n. The profit arising from office or employment; that which is received as a compensation for services, or which is annexed to the possession of office, as salary, fees, and perquisites.
n. Profit; advantage; gain in general; that which promotes the good of any person or thing.

That last one is real broad. Anyone can get hung on that for anything.

Eliot is a louse and he knows it.

I believe President Trump has already won the emoluments clause suit.

Engle is a typical, desperate Democrat, since they have no platform of success to run on, they are desperately trying to get traction on the “hatred and jealousy of the rich and successful” meme.

Look at the Clinton Foundation whichi received millions from foreign governments for “access,” based on speaking engagements, fund raisers for so called “charities.”The Clinton Foundation was a left payolla boondoggle. And now its closed down and its records bleached.

If I were the policy maker at RNC, I would be systematically engaging all foreign governments to Republican organized Free Market Economic Summits at every Trump facility in America and Europe, including ALL of the Golf courses.

I would be sticking it royally to the haters of wealth and success.

At some point a rabbit dog has to be put down... thus the fear of guns on the despotic left, no?

But I suppose, giving Presidents huge speaking fees and multi-million dollar book contracts is perfectly legitimate.

If that is the case, then every government employee who has a 401k and is making money from it is violating the emoluments clause.

Every member of the legislative, executive and judicial branch of government who takes a gift is in violation of the emoluments clause.

This is a direct attack on Trump by Engel. Engel should, in turn, have his businesses, finances and family subject to investigation, harassment and boycotts.
