Ed Smart, the father of kidnapping survivor Elizabeth Smart, posted on social media Thursday that he is gay, divorcing his wife and doesn’t see a place for himself in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
In “one of the hardest letters I have ever written,” Smart wrote in a Facebook message to family and friends that “I have recently acknowledged to myself and my family that I am gay.”

I was thinking the same thing.
i thought that also. That’s what he was bringing the homeless guy in “to fix”, his boner.
It’s amazing so many people have the need to tell other people their private business and want to advertise what they do in their own bed.. Why would a man who apparently has lots of money broadcast to the world that he is perverted? Why would he shame his family members? Especially his children. Is his sexual activity that important? Who cares what he does in his own bed. Are we supposed to cave in and accept his choices? To hell I will.
In my opinion, an extremely pathetic excuse for a human being. Loathesome. No wonder the daughter was kidnapped. The father was preoccupied with himself and insane.
There are many possible crosses to bear in life, including disabilities, depression, addiction, medical issues and yes, even sexuality. I’m guessing he had little, if any, awareness of his sexuality 40-45 years ago when he got married. However, we don’t proclaim those crosses to be good things in and of themselves. We carry them as Christ carried his and we allow them to make us stronger while staying close to Christ. We don’t embrace the lies and trappings of a false ideology that will only bring sin and misery.
Sadly, he will most likely end up spending many drunken nights at bars, sleeping with many different men and chasing young guys on dating apps. Making choices like his usually starts out with great joy because of the “acceptance “ and pats on the back from others, as well as temporary relief from the cross. But very soon he will be left acting out like a desperate fool, empty and wondering what went so wrong in his life.

She’s LUCKY. Now she has the chance to enjoy the rest of her life with a REAL man. I speak from experience.
Here’s a task for you - research and find out how many homosexuals are coming out of the closet each day and then showcase one a week....

I am not sure these late in life “conversions” to homosexuality are not about anything except narcissists looking for attention.
There have been many over the past forty years, prominent bishops and pastors in our state and others. Wealthy men also, who make the jump. All people who are in leadership and the public eye.
It was pretty obvious.

As with gays, it’s mainly about the aTtEnTiOn. Look at MEEEEEE!!! Everything they do is about themselves. Saw that when he was in front of the cameras when Elizabeth was missing.
Could be somewhere in the dark recesses of Mitchell’s (the kidnapper) mind, he was saving Elizabeth from her sicko father. Perhaps Mitchell knew the father liked men.
