A crowd outside a Philadelphia home taunted police as they battled an AK-47 wielding gunman accused of shooting six of their officers and holding another two hostage on Wednesday.
The man finally surrendered after a dramatic standoff that lasted nearly eight hours.
'A major moment of disappointment this evening was watching a crowd of people taunt police officers, laughing and yelling at them in the midst of the gunfire,' tweeted CBS3 reporter Alexandria Hoff early Thursday morning.

Seriously if I were an officer there I would resign immediately, sue the city for emotional distress and move the hell out of the sewer.
“...but could start in just this kind of setting/event, and then spread..”
Very real possibility for those of us old enough to remember the Watts riot, the MLK assassination riots which sent most of the major shithole cities up in flames, the Rodney King riot, and many others.
They hate the cops, but they FEAR the armed citizen. They know that gun laws with not disarm the criminals.
The cops knew they could just kill the guy. They also knew that if they did, the guy's friends in the crowd would riot and burn.
Typically, it’s a rally by PP or PB that Antifa shows up at because “Nazis.” Eugene news outlet refered to slabs as a hate group. I guess the short answer to your question would be that, in Oregon, Portland is where a lot of the people are. This State is deeply divided.
When the time comes, set up checkpoints/roadblocks and starve these rats out.
Cop friends lament their tactics. Tactical units should have been called in immediately.
They have a very mobile tank like, bullet proof vehicle that rams the front door, and inserts tear gas, then retreats and SWAT teams enter with gas masks and takes the perp down.
This could happen in minutes, all the while SWAT team member create a perimeter to protect the site, and prevent interference during the operation.
This has been practiced and perfected in every city and town in the nation, except where populations do not warrant it. but can be deployed within an hour from any major city.
This was political, pure and simple. And the police were not prepared. When political, they tie the hands of the police, and that should not happen IMO unless the politician is standing in FRONT, not behind, the police.
Mayor Jim “The Toilet Czar” Kenny and DA Larry Krasner.
Both radical socialists.
What did you expect, that they’d blame the career criminal holed up with a stolen AK??? The cops were there to serve an arrest warrant.
It’s GOT to be the gun’s fault, no matter what.
Wall such neighborhoods up and don’t let anyone out.
Take this to the bank. The Philly cops will remember this just as the Baltimore cops remember the betrayal of the people there. When the cops go dead on a city, it might as well pack up and close. You can’t have a country with walls and you can’t ave a city without a functioning police department. Cops can go dead so subtly the target can’t prove it and will look stupid trying. This old cop knows this.

These are indictments for a May 1 event, handed down without benefit of a grand jury hearing. How timely.
Of course the Antifa goons who start the violence are untouched by the legal system.
Yeah, I heard that Joey Gibson of Patriot Prayer was also indicted. There is speculation that attending Saturday’s rally may not be possible for him. As for the Andy Ngo case, Ted Wheeler is looking into it.
