Of course, some people
grow their own food.
WAY too much trouble!

My results Are:
You Are 7-Eleven [I already guessed that!]

Grocery shopping? Ugh! No thanks. You'll do what you can to avoid this chore. That's why I let hubby grocery shop even though he goes over-budget
Of course, you need to eat like everyone else - so you'll pick up something easy and convenient to tide you over.

If you had your way (or won the lottery), you wouldn't have to worry about groceries at all. You'd love to eat out for every meal. Well, we already pretty much do that!
But until then, you're happy to make to with a frozen pizza or some mac and cheese! Maybe even a banana if you're feeling healthy.

The Illusion of Control

Bible in a Year : Psalms 89–90; Romans 14

You do not even know what will happen tomorrow. James 4:14 Ellen Langer’s 1975 study titled The Illusion of Control examined the level of influence we exert over life’s events. She found that we overestimate our degree of control in most situations. The study also demonstrated how reality nearly always shatters our illusion.

Langer’s conclusions are supported by experiments carried out by others since the study was published. However, James identified the phenomenon long before she named it. In James 4, he wrote, “Now listen, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.’ Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes” (vv. 13–14).

Then James provides a cure for the delusion, pointing to the One who’s in absolute control: “Instead, you ought to say, ‘If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that’” (v. 15). In these few verses, James summarized both a key failing of the human condition and its antidote.

May we understand that our fate doesn’t rest in our own hands. Because God holds all things in His capable hands, we can trust His plans!

By Remi Oyedele

Reflect & Pray

In what ways have you given in to the illusion that you’re in control of your fate? How can you turn over your plans to God and leave your future in His hands?

Heavenly Father, I place all of my life in Your loving hands. Thank You for Your good plans for me.

LOL, the only time I go to a 7-11 is to buy ice.

I stick to my list, avoid pricey organic, shop early in the morning on the weekend and do my bulk shopping at the Walmart Market (not the big box Walmart). And the answer was Walmart.

Mine said Walmart, but we don’t grocery shop at Walmart. We shop at Krogers, which wasn’t one of the answers.

Hi Luv. Sez here this week that I am a store in which I have not visited in about seven years. Maybe Two Buck Chuck needs a long-lost friend. :-)

You Are Trader Joes

You consider grocery shopping an adventure. You like to go out there and see what you can find.

You are definitely a foodie, but you keep to a budget. You want as many of the finer things as you can afford.

You have a taste for the exotic and novel. You love a new twist on an old favorite.
And while you aren’t a health nut, you prefer to go the more natural route. You love to eat well while still making healthy choices.

Greetings to all at the Canteen!

To all our military men and women, past and present,

THANK YOU
for your service!

You Are Walmart

You like to pinch pennies when you grocery shop, and you're proud of how far you can stretch your dollar.
You are a no frills shopper, and you are good at getting what you need without breaking the bank.

You simply don't think it's worth it to shop at a gourmet store to pay double the price for the same food.
You are more likely to eat to live than to live to eat. That being said, you eat better than most of your friends - for a fraction of the price.

LOL! They pretty much nailed it this week.

A very pleasant good Wednesday morning and ((HUGS)) to everyone at the Canteen and to all our military at home and abroad. Thanks for your service to our country and thanks, LUV W. for this morning's thread.

The result I got was:

You Are Walmart

You like to pinch pennies when you grocery shop, and you're proud of how far you can stretch your dollar. You are a no frills shopper, and you are good at getting what you need without breaking the bank.

Good mornin’, Early Birds!
I’m on my way back home today.
Mixed feelings about that.
Missing hubby and kitties, but
I’ll miss these sweet people too.
Hope all y'all have a Wonderful Wednesday!
