Roughly 150 locals attended an August 12 job fair to apply for jobs at the Koch Foods plants in Mississippi.
The fair was run after the August 7 removal of 243 alleged illegal migrants in two of the companys chicken processing plants, according to local authorities.
The local Jackson Clarion-Ledger newspaper reported 25 to 30 people went to the job fair in Forest, Mississippi. The report said:
Kamerio Whitley, a resident of the nearby town of Morton, spoke to reporters after he left the building. He said there were several positions available at the plant, including forklift operators.
Whitley said he applied for a job working at the plants rehang table, where workers hang frozen chickens.
The job starts at $12 an hour, which is decent pay for the area, Whitley said. Thats not bad to start, and it can always go up, he said.
The company is also trying to hire workers with online ads. Local officials made sure the hiring process complied with federal hiring regulations, according to WAPT 16.
Koch Foods is not part of the Koch brothers network of energy companies.
By 10 a.m., a crowd of dozens was on hand Most were black and spoke with accents from the American South. A few appeared white or Hispanic, AP reported. The news service continued:
The 25-year-old [Eddie Nicholson] has worked in chicken plants before and was considering a return, but wanted to see if wages had gone up. Plants in recent years have typically paid $11 to $12 an hour, according to labor statistics, but Nicholson said he wants $15 an hour.

Still, they hire illegals. Shut ‘em down and sell the place to someone else.
Most likely paid under the table....................
It’s the AP, so they have no education................
Did Koch get punished for hiring illegals? They need to be fined and punished to the full extent of the law. Then the laws need to be made stronger. .We need to address the root of the problem. If company’s such as Koch weren’t taking full advantage of the illegal invasion to get cheap labor, and the democrats weren’t subsidizing it, we wouldnt have this ongoing crisis at the southern border.
On another note, wait for the ACLU to start filing lawsuits in their defense
I get the feeling that this raid on a Koch owned facility was no accident or random picked occurrence...................
True, but the Koch Bros. are as in favor of open borders as Soros. For different reasons but just as much in support.
These places have been running off of illegal labor for 30 years, nice to see they finally had a bout of patriotism and decided to interview some Americans. It’s funny how someone actually enforcing our immigration laws seems to motivate these scumbags to find their integrity.

Always, always about race.
Dr. King would weep.
Did you mean Joseph Grendys? That is the owner of Koch Foods.
So, this isn’t the ‘Koch ‘Never Trumpers’ Brothers’?..........
This is one area where I could have my arm twisted into supporting civil asset forfeiture, if it can be established that a business owner has a demonstrated patter of knowingly hiring illegals, or failing to comply with specific simple, easily verifiable measures to screen his employees for eligibility.
It’s AP.....................
Not the same Koch as you are thinking about...
Normally I am against civil asset forfeiture too, but 243 illegal alien employee’s is NOT a Mistake, it is a Conspiracy to:
Commit Tax Fraud
Bank Fraud
Wire Fraud
Money Laundering
Identity Theft
sounds like a LIFE Sentence to me as well.
Good article.
That sounds racist to me.
More Americans doing the jobs democRats and RINOs said they wouldn’t do.
We told them!!!!
I bet they aint in no ways tahhhrrred, either.
Bingo! The higher minimum wage is meant to eliminate jobs and deny jobs to Americans, while attracting illegals.
I suspected as much but you sure couldn't tell from the facts of this case.
