Back when I was on other forums (nixed every last one but FR), you wouldn’t believe how many would whine they’d rather let their family die than buy and extra can of corn. I was about the only full pantry voice.

When people need safe places at college and go bonkers when their cell phone service is down, there is no common sense.

“According to Mills, these preppers believe that if the worse were to happen, the government’s response simply wouldn’t be adequate and many people would be left to fend for themselves.”

Maybe because that’s true. Maybe it’s because our government tells us to be prepared for AT LEAST 3 days.

Duh.

One would also imagine you don’t have to drive 30 miles to the nearest grocery store in England. Some Americans need to buy in bulk so they don’t have to drive 30 miles for a quick milk run. At my Texas store, if you have two milk cartons in your cart, you get begged by everyone else to share one because the dairy case is empty. When you see a staple product, you should know to stock up because it might not be on the shelves for the next three months, six months or years.

We had a flood last October that washed away a bridge and shut down half the town. People had to drive forever to another grocery and to work and school. It didn’t bother us because I keep a full pantry.

I don’t prep like during obamy’s time but keep a full pantry like my grandma did.

A violation of the Second Amendment might well lead to chaos by ushering in an enormous increase in the intensity and frequency of violence committed by Democrats after the election whether they win or not!

We had a white meth head who jumped the fence and refused to leave our backyard a few months ago.

Kroger’s/Smiths’s/and other family member stores carry ultrapasturized milk, it doesn’t need refrigeration until it’s opened.

Just sayin’...

I am sure the dozens of apocalyptic, post-apocalyptic, end-of-the-world books, comic books, movies and TV series each year have nothing to do with it.

“Most Americans can’t seem to log online or turn on the television without being hit by a grim view of the future being reported or speculated on.”

Ah, no. Most Americans can’t believe the crap coming out of the so called mainstream media. Trust in federal government and the mom is at all time lows because they are intentionally wrong so much of the time, IOW lying.

People can see that those working in government are twisted sick people intent on causing harm to regular citizens.

Prudence has me stocked for a month. If I had the space it would be stocked for a year and rotate the supplies through.

The politicians, following commands from their masters, the globalist oligarchs, have successfully washed the brains of the citizenry to be dependent upon the government in times of chaos and/or disaster. The oligarchs want to depopulate America. The foolish citizenry is cooperating in that agenda.

In the entire county, we only have HEB (chain grocery) and Walmart. Neither sells it. Anything over the bare basics of the basics isn’t sold here. Thankfully, we don’t buy much milk these days but we do panic when there’s no cream on the grocery shelf or in the back of the store. Haven’t had anyone beg for cream as most want milk for corn flakes. Don’t know why since schools provide free breakfast for all students no matter their family income.

Good thing real cream has a long expiration date so we buy several cartons at a time. Cream, yogurt and sour cream have long expiration dates and have multi uses.

I can’t stand powdered milk but it’s available here so have some on hand just in case. It gets used and rotated out in baked goods and cooking much like instant potato flakes.

BTW, the last time I stocked up on HV Ranch Dressing, the protective seal was missing. The green paper around the neck of the bottle was fine and glued onto the screw lid but wasn’t positioned up high enough to protect the flip top. There wasn’t a plastic seal on the opening of the bottle where the contents are. IOW, nothing was protecting the flip top or the contents. Flip it open and there’s the dressing. I didn’t find this until long after purchase so had to toss them all. HV lost this customer. I’m sticking with the store brand that’s cheaper.

I also had to toss some HEB brand mouth wash last week. The protective seal was secure but it tasted like a gym socks. Right after using it, I had intestinal problems. Didn’t try it again for a couple weeks because of the taste but when I did I had tummy problems again. What the heck. Waited a month and intentionally tried it again (yeah, stupid) and again with the tummy problems. I kept the bottle for another month hoping the product would show up on their recall list but it didn’t. This makes me think someone did something to it in the factory and I don’t want to know what.

A few weeks ago I had to report some kids, with mama well aware, eating one strawberry out of each container.

With idiots eating out of containers in the store, licking, spitting, peeing and pooping on our foods, we MUST be ever vigilant.

Now I have to start buying the pretzels.

Yeah. When I buy my survival pretzels I usually buy a few desiccant packs so they keep longer. Last time I was in the lady at the checkout counter looks over both shoulders, leans forward, and sez, "I don't think you need to buy the desiccant any more." She knows something.

This is, for those of us who live anywhere near a rural region, such common behavior that it scarcely bears mentioning. Because, uh, winter? Not to mention the relatively common threat of wildfire, tornado, hurricane, and violent thunderstorm such as the one that blew through here last night. Or the rarer but present threat of earthquake or a simple road or bridge washout. Because believe it or not, Anus Flats, Idaho isn't very high on FEMA's priority list.

I feel for urban preppers because it's a lot harder when you don't have the storage space, but there's still a lot you can do. 72 hours of emergency supplies isn't really a lot. You could put it in a cupboard. A small one.

They are worried about THEIR government coming in and making them prisoners in their own nation.

"Long before it was called ‘prepping’ my family stocked up on water, canned food, firewood and other items. We suffer, to this day, many electrical blackouts due to the high number of mature trees in the area. When you can’t flush a toilet, shower, or get water to cook, you tend to prepare. With the Democrap demonization of traditional American beliefs, whites, Christians, etc., and their environmental scare tactics, I’m hardly surprised that it’s spreading."

Ditto.(Living in 'Hurricane Alley' is a good motivator too)

I bought my guns and ammo decades ago.

Agreed. It's not "belief" conjured from movies or whatever. It is simple observation of recent events, and, for some of us, direct experience, PLUS gov't / emergency agencies' advice that is really quite reasonable, given any historical knowledge whatsoever.
