CONCORD, N.H. Gov. Chris Sununu on Friday vetoed three bills that advocates said would have added commonsense protections for Granite Staters against gun violence but opponents said would have done nothing to stop mass shootings and would have infringed on the constitutional rights of citizens.
Sununu vetoed House 109, which closes the so-called gun show loophole and requires background checks for virtually all commercial firearms sales or transfers; House Bill 514, which requires a three-day waiting period before the purchase and delivery of a firearm; and House Bill 564, which prohibits carrying a firearm on school property.
New Hampshire is one of the safest states in the nation, and we have a long and proud tradition of responsible firearm ownership. Our laws are well-crafted and fit our culture of responsible gun ownership and individual freedom, Sununu wrote in a single veto message on all three bills.

I thought this was a blue state.
Maybe that guy could run for President in ‘20. He seems to get the 2A.
The guy looks nothing like John Sununu. Amazing.
OUTSTANDING - and ballsy, considering the pressure politicians are under to do something, anything! to stop the bloodbath (as Soccer Moms see it).
Nice to see a victory once in a while, and hopefully he’s able to stem the voter fraud from neighboring Mass. that seems to happen every 2 years.
It’s the live free or die state.
They are very independent minded up there and the dems keep trying to implement gun control and state income tax and the governor is not buying it and the people are not happy about it.
I love it. Cannot wait.
That must not like to live that free because they’ve gone for the dem in 7 or the last 8 presidential elections.
And the dems didn’t MAGICALLY get power there either.
They don’t sound very independent minded to me.
NH, Vermont and Maine have very reasonable gun laws and trust me, many of them have long guns.
It was funny, a while ago after one of the school shootings, I think Parkland I called my liberal sister who has lived in Maine for 45 years and is a teacher I spoke to her via phone.
I almost couldn’t wait for her responses when I asked her, “have you talked about the shootings and guns in your classroom.”
The response was funny. She said, “I couldn’t believe how pro gun and anti gun control they were.”
She teaches in an uppity outside Portland.
I admit, I didn’t bust out laughing when she told me how shocked she was but thinking back the wake up for her is funny.
Just logged on.
Second good-news article in row...
Think I’m gonna log off now.
They’re trying to do something now, but their voter registration laws were criminally lax. People from Mass, whose vote didn’t matter in that deep-blue state, would be bused over to NH, sign a simple form saying that they may move to NH, at some point, vote in NH (and vote Democrat, of course), and then take the buses back to Mass.
They’ve likely thrown some of the elections in that state, as it is very purple (thanks to having some suburbs of Boston).
I could almost see the liberals taking that as a challenge and trying to arrange for a mass shooting somewhere in the state, but it would absolutely be suicidal.
The only mass shooting would be done by the citizens as they aerated the guy.
But I just can't decide if liberals are stupid enough to try anyway.
Guess where the next mass shooting is going to be.
Live Free Or Die
That’s INSANE!!!
Come on man it’s 2019 and we have Tammany Halls all over the place!
It’s what IDEALISM results in. I strongly suspect those laws were started with ‘good intentions’, so as to maximize the number of people voting.
But, as usual, loopholes were exploited...
Thank you Gov. Sununu!
Proud to have you as my Gov!
Well, Chris is no John. Good for Chris.
A friend of the Second Amendment is a friend of ours. Raise your glass to this good man. Long life, Governor Sununu.
Yeah, except we have these STUPID vehicle inspections annually. Stupid.
