Deputy Director of National Intelligence Sue Gordon is resigning from her post amid turnover at the top of the agency, The Office of Director of National Intelligence (DNI) did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Gordon, a career intelligence official, was set to ascend to the top post as director of national intelligence following the departure of Dan Coats later this month.
But the White House had been weighing removing her in favor of installing a Trump loyalist, despite concerns from Capitol Hill, where Gordon is widely respected.
The move further throws into chaos the leadership atop DNI, which is tasked with overseeing the nation's various intelligence agencies.President Trump announced on Thursday

Definitely go with a Trump loyalist. They aren’t all a bunch of Jeff Sessions’. It’s the only way to get our government back under our control from the Deep State Swamp people.

despite concerns from Capitol Hill, where Gordon is widely respected. Huge red flag. Glad PDJT recognizes that.

The move further throws into chaos the leadership atop DNITell me which of our deepster dominated agencies could not benefit from a bit of chaos amongst the leadership at the top. I am hard pressed to think of any.

I'm sure this country has been able to rest easy knowing that we had some troll with a background in zoology as the Deputy Director of National Intelligence.
She's actually frightening to look at. For anyone who has seen the Lord of the Rings movies, she looks like Saruman in drag.

Trump gets to name the ACTING head, as well as nominate. He can sit on the nomination, even to the point of never making one. Did that for a number of US Attorneys, e.g., Huber.

Brett Samuels is a young douche who is definitely anti-Trump.
But her willingly leaving is a good thing. Trump can put John Ratcliffe in that spot now.

Bypassing Gordon for the role of acting director required her to leave or be removed from her current position, as the law states the deputy director should replace the director in the event of a change. So she didn't have a choice. Why didn't they make that clear to begin with?
To: CaptainK
Glad Sue Gordon is leaving. She’s a Swamp Critter.

This is diplomatic talk. No real good is served by lambasting her, the important thing is to get rid of her. If you have ever been let go, or let anyone else go, it is common to say some nice things to soften the blow.
Also, if you have a long-term master plan, being civil doesn't interfere in its execution. Think of Don Corleone in the meeting of the heads of the five families in the Godfather.
