The ex-girlfriend of Dayton gunman Connor Betts says he showed her a video of a mass shooting on their first date and that he took her to a gun range.
Adelia Johnson, who said she dated Betts for a few months before their relationship ended in May, told NBC's Today that the 24-year-old had struggled with mental illness and he didn't get the help he needed.
The pair met in a community college class and Johnson said they bonded over both having mental illnesses. She said Betts told her he suffered from bipolar disorder and possibly OCD.
She now believes there were red flags during their relationship that could have proven to be warning signs ahead of the massacre on Sunday in which Betts gunned down nine people, including his sister Megan.

Ever notice how the police no longer give a motive for most criminal behavior? This allows their accomplices in the media to fill in the blanks for us.
The amazing thing... The warning signs were everywhere... Why didn’t anybody consider calling somebody and saying something to somebody?
These people are clearly irresponsible and they should be charged with something and held responsible. I wouldn’t recommend jail time but maybe a course in reasonable judgement to reflect on their stupidity.

So he said it himself that he had serious and chronic mental illness, yet he was able to get to a gun range?
Do most gun ranges have any restrictions on people with histories of mental illness?
I would think, for everyone’s safety at the gun range, that they would have such restrictions.
That’s the last thing you need in such an environment.

No. There are no such possible checks.
There have been precursors in virtually all these incidents that no one acted on. Bureaucratic failures, police failures, school official failures, family failures, friends failures to report it. No gun law after the fact is going to stop this.
Adam Lanza (Sandy Hook) was deeply disturbed yet his mother bought and gave him access to firearms. How could a gun law prevent the stupidity of his mother? She paid for it with her life. Unfortunately others did too. And still others have been forced to give up their constitutional rights because of it.
Have to say, with this irretrievably damage individual, not sure it’s possible to discern a coherent motive because he goes not seem to be capable of coherent thought

The employee at a sporting goods store and the police Officer in his patrol car and the government employee at his desk will never know as much about a psychopath as the psychpath’s friends, family and associates.

So if we're going to take action, let's have a national debate with the FACTS. The Dems always want to legislate immediately when emotions are high and nobody reds the bill. The facts are that we already have Red Flags with these people.
