A former friend of the gunman who slaughtered nine people outside of a Dayton, Ohio, bar said he cut off their friendship when the mass shooter held a gun to his head about five months ago, a report said Monday.
Will El-Fakir, who went to the same high school as gunman Connor Betts, told the Dayton Daily News that Betts had been getting a little violent with friends and began to bring guns around them in recent months.
Betts then held a gun to El-Fakirs head about five months ago for no reason, he told the newspaper. El-Fakir said he cut ties with Betts after the incident.
El-Fakir told the newspaper he recounted the incident to Dayton police officials Sunday afternoon.

El-Fakir added that hed witnessed strange behavior from Betts before the gun incident.
There were times when he went to bars and just scoped the place out, El-Fakir said.
Hed say, If I brought this-or-that through here, it would have done some damage.

Spot on response. The stupidity of some in this thread makes my head hurt.
The level of intelligence on this board is normally very high. But sometimes it just sinks into the mud.
The aversion to anything Islam is justified.
They want to kill us. It’s the singular goal of their religion to conquer the earth, with violence as the primary means.
So when we see a spectacular killing incident and lo and behold the one person who is quoted has a name associated with Islamic lands, it is perfectly reasonable to contemplate whether there is an Islamic motive involved.
Sure, El-Fakir might not be Muslim. But the odds are pretty damned good that he is.
This guy appears to have thrown up as many Red Flags as anyone who ever lived.
And yet nobody reacted.
So what good are new “red flag” laws anyhow?
No, it is not “perfectly reasonable” to assume that. The killer was a radical atheist. His best friends were just normal (seemingly) white guys. The best friend he drove to the party was a white guy. The arabic guy was the only one who gave his name. Everyone else I saw didn’t want their name released. And he actually had a gun pointed to his head. But maybe he influenced it? Maybe he’s in on it?
Should we arrest and interrogate him? Work on him with rubber hoses until he talks?
When you assume EVERY mass killing is based on radical Islam, and then go finding reasons why it might be even though there is ABSOLUTELY NO EVIDENCE that it is, I think its time to take a look in the mirror.
> When you assume
The error here is yours. No assumption is being made. Imputing one is a mistake on your part.
That’s exactly what the Left does when they say everything is racist. They impute things that do not exist, just as you are doing here.
This is not bigotry. This is analysis and information-gathering.
Agreed,
legally of course.

Its paranoid delusion.
Its paranoid delusion.
Not at all. It is the recognition of a standard pattern and practice which we have all been familiar with since 9/11, and I personally have been familiar with since many years before that.
It is a known pattern, and it is reasonable to wonder whether this incident fits that pattern, until evidence that rules out the possibility emerges.
That this person appears to be a hard lefty does NOT rule it out, as our lefties have been arm-in-arm with Islamists for quite some time now.
Agreed. There are also a lot of posts that seem to accept the narrative that Betts was mentally ill. I’m willing to bet that the only mental illness he suffered from was liberalism. Despite the media blackout, the emerging picture is that this guy was a leftist-Marxist-anarchist; a true believer in radical-socialist ideology with ties to Antifa. He did not kill because he suffered from a “DSM 5” mental illness or because he was on psychotropic drugs to control mental illness; rather, he was a hard-core leftist who was willing to sacrifice his life for the cause — to fundamentally change the USA into a socialist-Marxist state through the use of fear and terror.
Two things jumped out at me as I watched the brief video of Betts just before LEO took him out: First, he was wearing an Antifa-like bandanna to cover his face. Second, he moved like he was on a mission, as if he had practiced the attack before implementation, and not like a mentally ill person who was hearing voices or just snapped.
Just my opinion and observations.
I really loathe the effort to put each shooter into a camp. The liberals try to paint them as Alt-Right White Supremacists. The conservatives try to pain them as Antifa loving socialists.
Sometimes, there are just evil people.
Yup,
No sense in
Stupid.
Exactly. Existing laws could’ve stopped this guy long ago.
But no one took action with the existing laws.
The high school gave him a slap on the wrist.
Then no one else wanted to report him. Everyone probably figured he’d escape punishment and then become even angrier.
Oddly, schools have been punishing small children for drawing pictures of guns. This guy makes a hit list in high school, and nothing is done?
people would be trained to scour the internet to distinguish what I am talking about from Swift. Many of these shooters have written their intentions/manifestos on the web. It takes a professional with judgement to identify problems.
The FBI has specialist on profiling and serial killers. This would be another field of expertise. Would have been where the FBI in Florida would have referred the Parkland killer.
It serves no purse to say someone who has already killed 20 people is mentally ill. I believe you pay the price for crime regardless of your mental state as I think Dr Thomas Szazz so well explained decades a go.
I welcome your plan to stop these shootings before they take place. Or at least reduce the numbers.
Winning post.
Thanx did you misspell wHining? Thanx LOL
Thank-you for letting me know.
my education is clinical psychology thanx.
I don’t disagree about the profiles. I mention before the triage would be like the FBI profilers do about serial killers and others.
I’m not the one to do details.
I support more armed citizens, but I also want a pro-active move on iding these shooters before hand. Case in point Florida.
