They have been convicted of charges stemming from a video taken on International Women's Day that was widely shared on social media in March showing them without headscarves..
Monireh Arabshahi, Yasamin Aryani, and Mojgan Keshavarz, three women who have been held in Iranian custody since April of this year for "disrespecting compulsory hijab," have been sentenced by the Iranian Revolutionary Court to prison terms of at least 16 years each for disobeying the country's Islamic dress code.
The women were each given five years on charges of "assembly and collusion to act against national security," one year for circulating "propaganda against the regime" and ten years for "encouraging and preparing the grounds for corruption and prostitution." In addition, Keshavarz received another seven-and-a-half years for "insulting the sanctities" - a total of 55 years and six months.
...
The women were delivered the verdicts in the absence of their legal counsel, according to the Iran Human Rights Monitor; legal counsel was also denied during certain stages of the indictment process, interrogations and even during the trial itself.
...
when Judge Mohammad Moqisseh initially presented the charges, he "abusively" stated to the women, "I will make you all suffer. Qarchak, the prison where they are currently being held, is known to be one of the country's more menacing prisons due to "inhumane medical and psychological conditions." The facility which was once used as a chicken farm is now considered to be one of the largest and most dangerous prisons for women in Iran by many human rights organizations.
...
Just last week, 70 female cyclists were arrested in Tehran for violating the rules of "chastity and hijab."

“What a pestilence Islam is in this world.”
Yep. We were watching a show the other night that travels to ancient sites and does all of this radar/sonar imaging so you can see what USED to be there, underground.
They were ‘discovering’ ancient Greece, and the ‘Persians’ were getting ready to invade Greece by sea. (Greece kicked @ss!)
At that time, ‘Persians’ = Muslims! Persia was yet another conquest by The Death Cult. But did they mention that?
Ah...Nope!
I’m sure next weeks episode will entail how awful we ‘Christians’ have been to Humanity as a whole.
*Rolleyes*
P.S. We are in the Boonies, so can only get Free Government TV. It is TOTALLY unwatchable. Shoot Your TV! ;)
We can thank God that most people who say they identify with Islam have believed in a sufficiently expurgated form of Mohammed’s opuses that it is still civilly liveable. I’ve wondered what would ever happen if a whole country really bought into Mohammed grade zeal, hook line and sinker. I think they might be killing one another very soon over “purity.” At least here there is some kind of toleration (remember, toleration is relative).
I confess I had a wild gospel dream of putting up a humongous transmitter on the open seas and broadcasting gospel in Iranian, shifting the frequencies as the governments keep on trying to jam it. What we yawn at sometimes in our churches as old hat, could revolutionalize Islamic countries.
We would be wise to tie “aid” and “business” to openness to gospel inasmuch as we can (sometimes we cannot). Someone like Mike Pence might be better at making that fly than Donald Trump would be.
Of course this is unjust.
But U.S. has lost any high ground on unjust prison sentences. The U.S. has an incarceration rate of 655/100,000 and Iran is at 284. Canada is at 114/100,000. The U.S. has a prison population of 2.1 million, the largest, larger than China.
Americans are not inherently more evil than other people and certainly by multiples of 5-6x. The only rational conclusion is that U.S. arguably has the worst criminal justice system in the world which means the worst judges, prosecutors and investigators.
Don’t shoot the dumb box. Use it to put videos with more wholesome content up on. I don’t know why we have to keep our minds in the past, in that the only thing we put up on our tubes is boobiness.
Persia has long been a mixed situation, with the heritage of a lot more belief systems than just Islam. What sanity it had could be tied to things like Zoroastrianism, which managed to distantly mirror the biblical God without getting into satanic ecstasies of hate. It was able to be civil on account of that.
The new post-Shah Islamic government is a scourge on Iran. God does not allow scourges forever, however. When a country is pounded down enough, whispers of gospel appear again.
Part of the US problem is the most lackadaisical and vapid and value-ambiguous popular culture too. That might not be any kind of constitutional government duty (and heaven help any country that tries to do that with their government) but it’s not even close to doing “justice” to the good Lord.
So how do we uncap the light, and unbag the salt? It ends up being a church issue all over again, because gospel doesn’t poof into existence out of spiritual nothings.
Where's are the Dimms? The MSM? Hollywood? The AOC bitch bunch? (crickets)
Just for a dress code violation...
That’s what you get with a strict Muslim government.
Heck - that’s nothing compared to how women are treated in the U. S. according to the MAD SQUAD!! I guess those two loud mouthed muslim women in Congress don’t know what’s happening to their culture/religion (??) in other countries. It’s nice to know they are experts on OUR COUNTRY tho’.
Why do they both stress their religion and only one dresses with the headgear with the makeup, jewelry, nail polish, fashionable clothes? Difference between the two factions - Sunni and Shiite (I prefer a different spelling).
Truthfully, a bag over the head of the one from MI would be preferable - stop scaring the youngsters!
Hey let’s make a deal with them where they fet billions of dollars and we get.something.
Play Muslim games, win Muslim prizes.
THAT’LL TEACH ‘EM!
Whores.
Muzzle men can dress or undress as they damn well please.
I have satellite and I PAY for bad tv. Got a pile of shot TVs in the landfill j/k. I do read lots of books instead of watching tv.
