When you’re about to kill a dozen or more of innocent people, I doubt that the “private mall’s rules regarding weapons” really have any bearing on the matter! Simon has the RIGHT to exclude weapons, but at the same time, they also bear the RESPONSIBILITY for seeing to it that they are, in point of fact gun-free. By their inability to secure their premises, they have falsely communicated to their patrons that there properties are safe from gun violence, Julie’s CYA comment won’t stop the lawsuits that are coming Simon’s way!
