A Texas officer kills a woman while shooting at an unrestrained dog, police say

A Texas police officer trying to shoot at a barking dog killed the woman he was there to help during a welfare check, authorities say.

A caller reported a woman passed out in a grassy area in Arlington on Thursday evening. Arlington police officers, the fire department and EMS were dispatched to the scene to conduct a welfare check, officials said.

When the officer approached the woman, he noticed an unrestrained dog nearby, the Arlington Police Department said in a statement.

When I was a kid, mincing effete candidates who weren’t able to handle it if the job might mean getting bit by a dog weren’t graduated from police academy.

And if one somehow did get through there weren’t any sissies on the force who would support him.

Sad, what law enforcement has degenerated into.

The dog could have belonged to the woman and was only trying to protect her. Cops need to stop shooting people’s dogs. Somebody isn’t going to take kindly to it one of these days.

As the officer began to approach what appeared to be a woman lying in the grass, he noticed there was also a loose dog, police said in a news release.

As the officer called out to the woman repeatedly concerning her welfare, the dog began to run towards the officer while barking.

The officer walked backwards from the running dog while drawing his gun.

The officer fired it multiple times towards the dog.

“After the shots were fired, the woman yelled out and it was apparent she was injured,” police said in the news release.

My first thought is that was her dog.

I bet the woman had a health emergency and her loyal dog stayed by her side barking to get attention. Instead the woman got killed by another hair-triggered cop trying to murder a dog.
I love cops but this crap never ends!

The incident was captured by the officer’ body camera. The
video will be used as authorities investigate the incident.
