The dog could have belonged to the woman and was only trying to protect her. Cops need to stop shooting people’s dogs. Somebody isn’t going to take kindly to it one of these days.
That sounds entirely possible. Long before we met, my wife had a dog that was very protective. She got really sick once, and the dog would not let anyone at all approach to help. Fortunately for me, she survived.

Already happened. Can’t find the story but a man shot the Chief of Police after he ordered one of his cops to enter a back yard and shoot the dog.
