Five Pennsylvania parolees have been charged in six homicides over the past two months, spurring the Department of Corrections to investigate whether anything should have been done differently.

The accused killers’ supervision levels ranged from minimum to maximum, and they had been out from between three months and two years. Some had already violated the terms of their parole by the time they were arrested, and some had a history of violence.

For everyone who is all excited about so-called prison reform and for those who think many inmates are relatively innocent teen dope smokers, this is the reality. These are the people they are turning loose to prey on society.

Liberal systems are constantly releasing murderers who’ve gone on to kill more.

Yes. Pass a law to hold members of the parole board civilly liable for the criminal acts of people they let out of prison early for the duration of their sentence had they not been released.

That would sort out the problem.

I was talking to a prison guard at the gym. A man released from his prison killed a stranger on the same day. The guard said all the guards were warned to never turn their back on the killer. The guard said he was too dangerous to be around people, period. When their time is up they leave.

Either that or make the parole board people take these thugs into their own homes.

No doubt. Watch The First 48 sometimes and you will see how often violent offenders are released and commit crimes as soon as they hit the street. One man had been paroled twice for murder, and went on to commit a third murder.

So what is your suggestion on what to do with these parolees?

These examples are not the ONLY people that are being released from prison, and I don't even know if any were released as part of the so-called “prison reform”.

So, again, what is your suggestion? Don't release any and just snuff them out and be done with it? Release them but amputate their arms and legs so they have a very small chance of committing any serious crimes once released?

How about keep all violent criminals locked up for a long, long time? I would much rather my tax dollars go towards building enough prisons than to just about anything else. The primary function of government is to protect its citizens. All else is secondary, if it should be done at all.

That is why prisons like ADX Florence exist. I understand the implications of Ad-Seg or the SHU, and yes maybe those inmates could have more books and entertainment at their disposal. However those same people pose a constant risk to human life. They are the type who would kill the doctor who just gave them a life saving dose of medication because they just felt like doing it.

...So what is your suggestion on what to do with these parolees?

In the not so distant past
Jails only existed to hold the accused until judgement
Then one of 4 things would happen

1)Innocent and free
2)Fined
3)Physically punished
4)Executed

A functional definition of a Felony was one
that the punishment was execution.

One could expand that to competently
retrying ALL felony cases once
But no appeal afterward

Maybe in the future, some use of a
reliable “Truth Serum” might also be helpful
Hay, a guy could dream

That's common sense, which seems to be in short supply these days.

However, sooner or later even the most violent inmate will be released assuming they fulfill their sentence. What happens after their release is anyone's guess.

I suppose some should never see the light of day again, but who among us will be deciding that fate? Is it even Constitutional? What is the recidivism rate among those released from long prison sentences?

A lot of variables, to be sure, but I don't see an easy solution to this issue.

Are there going to be even MORE of these reformed killers released into society thanks to the recent Jailbreak Bill? Obviously so.

Trump fell for his idiot son-in-law’s great idea at “prison reform.” Obvious pandering and bad idea. I hope it isn’t as bad as here in my state.

Well, the past is long gone, unfortunately. I could probably get behind going back to “the old ways”, but I am unequivocally outnumbered.

“Long, long time” means forever to me. Sounds like five monsters who deserved to be executed, but were not, thanks to our feeble-minded electorate.

Some criminals never stop unless incarcerated or eliminated.
