Democrats went too far with Obama... His election was a miracle made possible by the urge of long time Democrats who’s roots are steeped in racism to atone, and the turn out of black voters who normally ignore the electoral process. Add terrible contenders in the form of McCain (old, out of touch and scornful) and Romney (a Mormon cult member) and the perfect storm transpired to elect a socialist community activist.
Now the liberal socialist are under the delusion that they are popular. They are not and they never will be. Most American’s are center to right of center and always have been. And most new immigrants (the legal ones who actually contribute to society) are very conservative. When Democrats put forth liberal candidates for president they typically lose.
The exceptions... Carter (1 term) was outed immediately as too liberal and was resoundingly rejected with the landslide election of Reagan. Clinton ran as a moderate, acted like a liberal and returned to being a moderate after the Democrat congress was wiped out in the midterms. Obama was ultra left and introduced Obamacare that resulted in Nancy and her rabble being turfed in his first midterm and for the remainder of his presidency.
The end result... Trump. It could have been pretty much any Republican because Hillary was that scary, but Trump was appealing and his appeal has grown. Although radically different in many aspects, Trumps presidency reminds me of Reagan’s... The Democrats thought Reagan’s landslide was an anomaly... But he won even bigger the second time around. Given Trumps performance, that’s likely to happen again.
