Nothing unites Democrats more than a deep belief that President Trump must be driven from office. And right now, nothing divides Democrats more than finding the best way to bring this about.
Trump’s racist tweets over the weekend against Rep. Elijah E. Cummings and the city of Baltimore that is part of the dignified Democrat’s district only underscored the moral urgency of ending a presidency that, day after day, brings shame upon our nation.
Trump is not a political genius. He is president because of our outdated and undemocratic electoral college. What he is skilled at is taking advantage of his opponents’ weaknesses, sowing division in their ranks — and setting Americans against each other.
Think about what the Russians, in alliance with the Trump campaign, did in 2016. They drove wedges between supporters of Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton by feeding the sense of aggrievement in the Sanders camp. They worked to lower turnout among African Americans by pointing to the criminal-justice policies of President Bill Clinton’s administration in fostering overincarceration.

We can debate whether Trump is a political genius or not. What we do know, is that he and his team had enough political smarts, to get him elected president.
There was a meme somewhere of John Podesta and Tony Podesta, along with the police sketch of the guys wanted for questioning in the death of Madeleine McCann, with the caption “Still not exonerated.”
She got it all in the first 3 paragraphs: Racism, division, Russians, impeachment, morality, Hillary, Bernie and the electoral college. Now if she can get it down to 280 characters she can start to tweet.

Leftists are making it clearer and clearer they don’t think elections matter. If they lose, then they’ll do everything they can to overturn the election. They see themselves as entitled to control over everyone else.
They also like to claim that telling the truth, even when pretty damn undeniably true, is shameful and bigoted and hurtful and should be stopped. What do you do with opponents who play by no set rules, run around with God-complexes, and wage wars against reality and free speech?
You made some very great points, but I’d just like to mention that the electoral college really is democratic the way it works today. We are a collection of 50 individual, semi-independent states, each with its own laws, taxes, infastructure, etc. Every single one of those states has a democratic election for president. There is nothing anti-democratic about each state having it’s own election for president where everyone gets a say, rather than everything being concentrated in the federal government, where it was never supposed to be.
The smaller state governments are normally much more responsive to the people they represent than Washington DC or the country as a whole are. The federal government is unrepresentative for huge segments of people in the country. The left and its contempt for elections when they lose (and for the American people in general) are definitely not democratic, regardless of the name of their party. That’s why they want power taken away from local communities and states here and why they want all the power in Europe concentrated in Brussels. They are all about elitism and control, not about listening to the people. We should never let them pretend to be small-d democrats when they show such contempt for their own people.

The problem facing the haters of Donald Trump is that most of them are pitting their prissy self centeredness against his crude wisdom, and therefore they can’t agree on their accusations any more than the accusers of Jesus at His trial could agree.
