Billionaire hedge fund manager Kyle Bass is doubtful a trade deal between the U.S. and China could be reached and believes the Federal Reserves rate cuts are less effective these days.
"Every deal that the Chinese have signed up with us since their inception into the WTO since 2001, China never lives up to their promises, the founder and chief investment officer of Hayman Capital Management said on CNBCs Closing Bell on Thursday.

"At some point in time, one of our administrative officials is going to hold their feet to the fire and this is kind of a battle of cultures because the Communist Party doesnt want to submit themselves to anything measurable or enforceable. I dont think an agreement could be had, Bass said.
That’s fine. We need protective tariffs more than we need a trade deal.
Gradually bump the tariffs up to 50% and see what comes back.
Keep bumping until the trade deficit comes down.
I agree %100.
Agree 100%!
Just keep it up until more and more companies pull production out of China.
Then I guess they pay tariffs until hell freezes over. Problem is they are going to need a a lot of bullets to keep their people down when they find out they are losing their jobs and their new found low middle class existence.
I agree 100%, we need to recognize China is not our friend, they are a real competitor and enemy....
Back during the Cold War we did little to no trading with the USSR, we should take the same approach with China.
Cut them off, trade on our terms where possible, otherwise nothing.....
But I’m afraid after Trump, eventually we’ll get another weak minded Republican or Liberal Democrat who will crawl back to China with their knee pads on and sell us down the river....
Until the communist wield power back to the citizens we should do really no business with them
they are a true Tartarian communist regime it suppresses the town people skills people in the middle of the night murders them text their organs selves about a black market
They moderator all of their citizenry and arrest anyone suspected it being a Christian have an out right ban on Christianity and the Bible they tear down statues of Buddha Teryan church is in crisis very evil despotic to Tollett Terian godless killing murdering enslaving regime
we should have nothing to do with them
On another note completely what the hell is a hedge fund manager?
I am so sick and tired of the stupid wall street morons that make billions of dollars and did nothing valuable for the American economy absolutely nothing
all they do is steal money from other people
And of course the government one of their favorite targets for corruption
The problem is the companies are just moving to Vietnam and Malaysia instead, they’re not going to come back to the United States.
‘But Im afraid after Trump, eventually well get another weak minded Republican or Liberal Democrat who will crawl back to China with their knee pads on and sell us down the river....’
You are probably right. If Trump cuts a deal, it won’t be until after he wins a second term. And even then I think the probability is less than 0.5
Another good article bro. I’m curious to hear your take on it.
Well then if Kyle says so then what the hell! We might as well pack it in and bring the crew home. I mean we’re talkin’ about KYLE!!!
Have they had a President Trump to deal with the past? I don’t think so.
I am just sort of astonished, it has taken 27 years, trillions of dollars of national debt, and a HUGE section of American manufacturing pillaged, before anyone said this.
Frankly.
Screw tariffs. Outlaw trade with China.
He’s right. A deal which would create equal trade, or at least unmanipulated trade - would mean China would have to change in many fundamental ways, how it manages and interferes with its own economy
The Chinese Communist Party/Government would never agree to that.
Trump is finally ripping the lid off this and exposing it to Americans.
What are the odds of back to back posts saying AGREE 100%? :)
Dontcha know that making them wealthy off of “free trade” will inevitably lead them to become a flourishing democracy?
It’s worked out great! :)
I agree with Kyle Bass. we will never get an agreement that will lock the Chinese into.
They will cheat as soon as the ink is on the paper.
