WATCH: Robert Mueller's Most Breathtakingly Bizarre Answer of the Whole Day
Townhall.com ^ | July 25, 2019 | Guy Benson

Posted on 07/25/2019 11:34:04 AM PDT by Kaslin

At the risk of beating a dead horse -- having made versions of this point in consecutive posts yesterday -- I feel compelled to share this video from the Mueller hearings.  As scintillating as the proceedings were, I did step away from watching for relatively short passages of time, and evidently missed this genuinely jaw-dropping exchange.  When I first saw the tweet below, I wondered if it could truly be an accurate representation of what occurred in the former Special Counsel's back-and-forth with a Republican Congressman.  Watch the video, and see for yourself:

Here's the video where Mueller is confused by a basic question: Did the Trump campaign help Russia w/ hacking DNC emails? Mueller says "I don't know" & claims the question falls outside his investigation, despite it being the purpose of his investigation.https://t.co/8KqAURxwKA pic.twitter.com/Ef0H06n6k6— Jerry Dunleavy (@JerryDunleavy) July 24, 2019

Rep. Brad Wenstrup, a Republican from Ohio, asked Mueller whether it was “accurate to say that your investigation found no evidence that members of the Trump campaign were involved in the theft or publication of Clinton campaign-related emails?" ...Mueller first paused and then asked Wenstrup to repeat the question, which the congressman did. Mueller paused again, and then answered, “I don't know. I don't know. Uh, uh, what they've, well, uh...um, that portion of that matter does not fall within our jurisdiction, or fall within our investigation.”

The "I don't know, " followed by the jurisdiction comment, is utterly confounding. After all, digging into the issue being discussed was at the very heart of Mueller's mandate:

In his own report, he concludes involved the Russian intelligence’s hacking of Democratic emails and their provision of those emails to Wikileaks to publish — and to what extent, if any, the Trump campaign was involved in those efforts. When then-Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed Mueller as special counsel on May 17, 2017, the formal appointment order said the former FBI director was picked to “ensure a full and thorough investigation of the Russian government’s efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election” and that his top mandate was to investigate “any links and/or coordination between the Russian government and individuals associated with the campaign of President Donald Trump.” The subsequent scope memo from Aug. 2, 2017, again makes it clear that the question of whether the Trump campaign was involved in the Russian effort to hack or leak emails stolen from Democrats was certainly within the jurisdiction of Mueller’s investigation.

Former federal prosecutor Andy McCarthy told me yesterday that based on Mueller's performance, he doesn't believe the former FBI director truly grasped or ran the probe with which his name is so closely associated. Even if this was just one of a number of moments of confusion on Mueller's part, it does not inspire confidence in his granular, hands-on leadership of the investigation. Meanwhile, let the internal grousing and second-guessing among Democrats begin:

It looks like the team over at the Washington Post was really, really hoping for another outcome:

I'll leave you with President Trump's approval rating ticking up to (+11) on the economy -- up from just (+2) a few months ago in a series of Fox News polls.  It's not hard to see why:

All 50 states grew in the first quarter of 2019, with only 4 states growing less than 2.0%. The U.S. economy is booming thanks to @RealDonaldTrump’s policies https://t.co/lEWvZag4pc #GDP pic.twitter.com/WaP4oB6LmT— Sec. Wilbur Ross (@SecretaryRoss) July 25, 2019

"It’s almost as if he’s suffering from dementia."

Well, it obviously didn't keep him from accepting the position, or picking up his regular paycheck these past 2 1/2 years.

He probably had a lot of free time while the investigation was going on. Gave him plenty of time to watch porn on the computer, and read Strzok and Page's text messages he deleted from their phones.

And the drugs for it can have those symptoms. Wonder if he has Parkinson’s.

Not being able to remember who hired him to be the U.S. Attorney was absolutely devastating and embarrassing for a man to be in his dotage and not being mentally agile enough to recall important elements of his own life.

Nadler should be prosecuted for Elder Abuse.

STANTON: Which president appointed you to become the United States attorney for Massachusetts?

MUELLER: Which senator?

STANTON Which president.

MUELLER: Oh, which president. I think that was President Bush.

STANTON: According to my notes, it was President Ronald Reagan who had the honor to do so.

MUELLER: My mistake.

“It’s almost as if he’s suffering from dementia.”

Having a great deal of 1st hand experience with relatives afflicted with both Alsheimer’s and generic dementia I would conclude that it is almost a certainty.

My father in particular who has just a age related dementia was extremely adept at “masking”. A term that alludes to people with dementia cleverly covering up from outsiders their symptoms. A trained eye can spot the masking. Eventually the symptoms become so pronounced that covering up is no long feasible.

From my observation I would conclude that Mueller’s mental capacity has been deteriorating for more than a short period of time and he, as my father, became quite adept at “masking”. I would venture to guess that within a year his “masking” will know longer be feasible.

If liberals-socialists had any smarts, of course most of them don’t, they would have avoided making a spectacle out of these congressional hearings, which were a flop putting it mildly. They could have continued milking that farce of supposedly Russian interference all the way to the next elections. As it turned out they put on a public display of heir ignorance and stupidity. And poor Mueller did not fare a whole lot better, probably did not even know what this contrived report even contained. My goodness, and these people want a shot a running this country, I would say it is nothing short of scary. President Trump did the right thing, by staying out of it, knowing quite well that eventually, given enough rope they will try to hang themselves.

The Muller scope was so broad he could investigate swimming top sizes on South African beaches. And he missed what was right under his nose.

Watch, the Democrats are gonna demand a complete do-over, from scratch.

They’ll insist on a newly appointed Special Counsel to replace Mueller.

Nadler & Schiffty wont be happy until they get an appointee who’ll take their dictation.

The emails were not within the mandate because Justice knew from the beginning that they were hacked by the Chinese, not the Russians. They also knew that the DNC emails were not hacked by anyone but were stolen from the servers at DNC headquarters. All of the foundational issues creating the SP were planted by Justice and deserved no scrutiny.
The purpose of the SP probe was to keep the president off balance and create sympathy for impeachment. By the time Barr became involved the wheel spinning had been going on for 2 years +. He (Barr) discovered there was no there there and demanded a final report within 30 days. Hence, the Mueller report.
It is a treatise of lies, distortions, distractions, and other tomfollery promulgated in lieu of any legal justification for the so-called investigation.
The president has put this monkeyshine show to bed by giving its instigators enough rope to hang themselves. The man is fearless.

It’s possible but not too likely. Dementia is irreversible. Medication only delays the inevitable. There are seven forms of dementia. Alzheimer’s is one of them. Parkinson’s patients often present symptoms of dementia but if that were the case Meuller would have had some shaking, trembling or what’s called tar dive dyskensia.

The most lucid, self righteous and strident moment of the entire Mueller testimony, was his defense of Weisman.

The “I don’t know” answer is reasonable. The investigation didn’t find solid proof of interference but interference could have happened. His answer parallels a trial’s purpose which is to find a person guilty or not provably guilty, but not innocent.

The “doesn’t fall within our jurisdiction” is inexplicable.

Someone played a clip of Anderson Cooper growing tired of the whole scene when some dem said they were now going to go after McGhan. If the press would stop covering, they would stop doing it.

Mueller probably tole Weismann that they would need to transfer Strozk, so Weisman transferred him from investigator to Lead Investigator and Mueller was not sure what that meant but was happy he was transferred.
