This was in response to EU sanctions, so let the French, German, Italian and Spanish navies help the British... And I guess no ones told the silly Iranians, that England is leaving the EU. aya"DOH"llah's in charge agaon.

The Japanese also invaded Manchuria and mainland China where the USA had exclusive trading through the port city Shanghai. The Dutch through their trading port of Macau and the British through their port city of Hong Kong.
Japan cut off exclusive trade with China through all these ports.

There was a US Army Air Corps unit known as the Flying Tigers who took offense to this.

We then cut off the flow of oil to Japan. Japan then attacked the US Pacific fleet at Pearl Harbor.

Uh, my post had nothing really to do with May or even Trump. But personalities, rather than a thoughtful discussion of national interest is where you want to drive the conversation. As leaders change every few years, I am not interested in personality driven grievances.

Let the ungrateful, backstabbing Brits fend for themselves. Not one drop of American blood should be spilled over this. We have our own oil.

Once again, the weenie neoisolationists come out in droves on our Freerepublic!

Screw you in the neck with a brick, you John Bolton cosplayer. I'm heartily tired of warmongering globalists like you sending our kids off to die for causes that do absolutely nothing to improve our national interests.

Our NATO "Allies" (more like suckerfish) have been riding on our material and financial coattails for 50 years. Let them figure it out. It builds character.

You, on the other hand, can go pick up a rifle and go over there yourself if you're so horny to get involved.

Which readily explains why NATO joined us in Afghanistan... Not.

NATO exists to support each other if any member is attacked - quibbling should be beneath all of you.

Have all the courageous types who have carried our nation forward been bred out?

Given your screen name, at some point you were one of us who signed up to fight and maybe die for our country (though the M-60 was a true least bidder weapon).

So what happened to you?

Is that the same NATO that the EU nations belong to? The ones that have been stiffing the U.S. since virtually it’s inception by not meeting their fiscal obligations per the treaty? That Nato? Stuff NATO.

Yet NATO sent forces into Afghanistan to support our effort there.

Ingratitude is not an American trait, is it?

The reason the UK is in the state it is, is because of ww2. How many true British men died in that war, and ww1 to a lesser extent, leaving the dregs behind to populate more dregs. Demographics is destiny.

Heard this afternoon on FNC that England doesn’t have enough war ships to protect much of anything. That’s either poor planning or brilliant planning for the US to take care of them.

“Britain no longer has the inclination to even defend its own borders”

Now that you mention it, neither do we.

All they need is the mayor of London, Sad Diq Con or whatever, to pick up the phone and talk to the Iranians, ya know, peaceful Muslim to peaceful Muslim. All done! Right?

Yeah, you’re right. You guilted me into supporting another Middle East incursion with our blood and treasure to bail out countries that didn’t support Trump pulling out of Obama’s and Kerry’s wet dream agreement and then didn’t want to stop trading with Iran when the sanctions were re-imposed. Are you sure you shouldn’t be over at the “Weakly standard”. You sound like Bill Krystal.

The UK needs to take care of business in the UK. It can start by attacking London and ridding itself of the moooslim invaders.

Not all of NATO joined us in Afghanistan, though many did. Additionally, the Brits specifically told us not to intervene, so why should we go where we are not wanted?

“It’s not like they haven’t been doing things.”

Japan can be proud of their navy. It punches above its weight.

No, NATO exists to support each member, if attacked in the European continent, NA continent, or certain islands around the world owned by the members. A ship flagged under one of the NATO countries (neither of which even had British crewmembers, apparently), is NOT covered by NATO regulations when sailing in the Persian Gulf/Red Sea/Gulf of Aden/etc.

Britain has decided to try to make an EU-centric patrol for the area. US not invited:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3765917/posts

US forces were offered to prevent the capture of the British tanker and again to recover it. Britain declined and told us not to intervene.

https://www.cnsnews.com/video/gulf-tanker-seizure-senior-uk-politician-says-britain-did-not-take-us-offer-assets

Why, again, are we supposed to deal with a problem that the UK is clearly saying is theirs, that the UK specifically doesn’t want us involved in, and that they will not support us if we do?

Alliances have to work both ways. Our NATO partners do not want us doing this. Please explain why we should get involved when we are told not to. I look forward to your explanation.
