Democrats Falling Into Trump's 2020 Trap

Is there a better foil for Donald Trump than "The Squad?" The Democrats have done Trump a monumental favor by enabling these screeching harpies, giving them a platform to spout their loony views and treating their outrageous comments with kid gloves.

Trump's 2020 strategy became obvious this week, as tweet after tweet from the president targeted Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), and Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.), making them the stars of his little patriotic play. In fairness to the radical ladies, they are truly asking for it. It's like they're all walking around with a sign on their back saying "Hit Me."

Big mistake, girls.

U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday stepped up his attacks on four Democratic congresswomen who have criticized his policies, calling on them to apologize as he himself faced charges of racism.

“I don’t believe the four Congresswomen are capable of loving our Country. They should apologize to America (and Israel) for the horrible (hateful) things they have said,” Trump said in a Twitter post.

Too easy. Way too easy. And Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) made things worse for them:

“These are folks and women who love their country and they work very hard and they want to move us towards that more perfect union that our founding fathers talked about,” Cummings, who is African-American, said on ABC’s “This Week.”

“So when you disagree with the president, suddenly you’re a bad person. Our allegiance is not to the president. Our allegiance is to the Constitution of the United States of America and to the American people.”

The Constitution is wholly incompatible with Sharia Law. You cannot support both. The squad has to choose one or the other. I want to see them publicly denounce the one they don't support.

Because they cannot envision the end result of ANYTHING. They can only see what is directly in front of them. Pew does by far the best research on political 'typology.' The "Solid Liberals" are the ones that punch above their weight in terms of activism. They will be the lot that picks the nominee. I'd even go so far as to say when you hear someone on FR talk about 'liberals' or Democrats, it's this group we have in mind even though, as you'll see below, they far from being truly representative of rank-and-file Dems.

If you look deep into the research circa Oct 2017 you'll find that, unfortunately for the Dems, they're the political typology that is most out of touch with humanity and even many other Dems.

Defining values: Highly educated and politically engaged, Solid Liberals hold consistently liberal values. They back a robust role for government and are strong advocates of the social safety net. Large majorities view the current economic system as unfair and see economic inequality as a major problem. They take broadly positive views of immigrants, and fully 99% think being open to people from around the world is an essential part of the nation’s identity. Most say more needs to be done to address both racial discrimination and obstacles to women’s achievement. They support same-sex marriage and believe homosexuality should be accepted by society. Solid Liberals are the most Democratic of all typology groups: nearly two-thirds (64%) identify as Democrats, another 35% lean toward the Democratic Party.

Political attitudes: Solid Liberals are the most engaged Democratic group – 89% say they vote always or nearly always, and fully 97% say it matters a great deal or fair amount which party wins control of Congress next year. Their opposition to Donald Trump is overwhelming: 97% say they strongly disapprove of his job performance, and 91% say they disagree with Trump on all or nearly all issues. A 71% majority identify as liberal.

Who they are: The most highly educated of the typology groups, 57% are college graduates and nearly three-in-ten (29%) have a graduate degree. Non-Hispanic whites make up the vast majority of this group (73%), and the group is more female than male (59% to 41%). Solid Liberals are financially satisfied and among the most likely to live in urban areas.

Lifestyle notes: Most Solid Liberals (72%) say they enjoy going to museums a lot, and 75% say artists contribute a lot to society – the highest shares across typology groups. They are less likely than other groups to have a religious affiliation, and just 15% say they attend religious services weekly or more, by far the lowest share of any typology group.
