MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell faces criticism for saying none of Dem 'squad,' including AOC, are 'socialists'
MSNBC anchor Andrea Mitchell is facing criticism on Thursday over her declaration that none of the four progressive congresswomen of "The Squad," including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-NY, are "socialists."
Amid a bitter feud, President Trump attacked the freshman lawmakers during his rally on Wednesday and labeled them as "socialists." But it was in reaction to remarks from House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, D-Calif, who also referred to the "squad" as "socialist Democrats" that Mitchell wanted to fact-check.
"None of these members of Congress are socialists, but that is the way the Republican leadership wants to frame this election face-off,” Mitchell told the panel. "There’s not a single member of these congressional representatives who are avowed socialists, so I don’t know where that is coming from other than opposition research.”

I’m not understanding the controversy. She is an excellent Democrat spokesperson. In that capacity, this was exactly what she should have said.
Well, Andrea, your ilk are professionals at oppo research, and there are thousands of volumes of academic and not-so-academic materials on the purpose, construct, and use of communism and socialism in modern society, so if the hammer and sickle fit.......you butt-ugly elite.
She is right.
They aren’t socialists.
They are outright Communists. And at least half of them are Jihadist Muslims too.
The Demonrat Party passed Socialist in 1896 with William Jennings Bryan. These are Stalinists today. Evil and deranged.

If they are members of the Progressive Caucus they are most certainly socialists.

Her credibility is as pockmarked as her face.
They have no problem labeling everyone on the right “racist” but they can’t for the life of them, verify that a bunch of people who favor raising taxes, giving away benefits to illegals and putting everything possible in government control are indeed socialists.
In this case, Mitchell was careful to find room for credibility by referring to AOC as not being an "avowed socialist". As in out-of-the-closet, wearing the tee shirt, carrying the banner, totally committed; although an analysis of AOC's history may disprove that.
FOX left out "avowed" so as to present a slightly more inflammatory headline.

AOC referred to herself as a “democratic socialist” on one of the late nite talk shows.

She’s right about the “socialist” thing, as they’re 100% commies.
She’s wrong with the grammar. “None” (meaning no one) is singular, so she should’ve said, “none of the Dem squad is a socialist.” (At least, that’s how I was taught in the ‘60s.)
