And now it is Tom Friedmans turn to panic about the Democrats sharp turn to the left. Savor some yummy samples from his column yesterday:
Im struck at how many people have come up to me recently and said, Trumps going to get re-elected, isnt he? And in each case, when I drilled down to ask why, I bumped into the Democratic presidential debates in June. I think a lot of Americans were shocked by some of the things they heard there. I was.
I was shocked that so many candidates in the party whose nominee I was planning to support want to get rid of the private health insurance covering some 250 million Americans and have Medicare for all instead. . .
I was shocked that so many were ready to decriminalize illegal entry into our country. I think people should have to ring the doorbell before they enter my house or my country.
I was shocked at all those hands raised in support of providing comprehensive health coverage to undocumented immigrants. I think promises weve made to our fellow Americans should take priority, like to veterans in need of better health care.
So far so good, but the real comedy comes later in the column when Friedman recommends what policy ideas Democrats should be for:
Im disturbed that so few of the Democratic candidates dont also talk about growing the pie, let alone celebrating American entrepreneurs and risk-takers. Where do they think jobs come from?
Friedman hasnt been paying attention. Didnt he listen when President Obama said You didnt build that? (Ditto Elizabeth Warren.) Liberals no longer believe in entrepreneurship and growing the economy (in Bill Clintons clunky phrase). Its the Bernie-Lizzie Party now: the system is rigged! Only redistribution and punitive taxation on the prosperous will satisfy the sanctified envy and blood lust of the ascendent left. The Democratic Party is back to loving workers but hating employers. A winning formula Im sure.
Im adding Friedman to Paul Krugman on my Election Night 2020 Suicide Watch list.
Tom Friedman is a racist - who knew?
They’ve gone mad. Seriously.
When this kerfuffle started a lot of people around me were clutching their pearls. I was not. Given the utter mastery of politics Trump as displayed I knew how this was going to work out. When Trump makes a gaffe it is a 3 mile dead eyed sniper shot that hits bulls eye. He head shotted Piglosi and Dim leadership lined up behind her and all it took was one bullet the way they fall inline. He put them in a no win situation. Support the Jihad Squad very publicly or else. This gaffe was gamed out in detail.
He (and I since I have been watching carefully and learning his ways) knew exactly how it would tie a flapping albatross pecking at their eyes around the Dims leadership and rank and files necks. Next time Trump gaffes stand back a bit and think it through. Then laugh at the sheer brilliance.
Meanwhile, in Minnesota, Amazon employees have fouled their own nest by going on strike during a major company sales endeavor.
All should be fired. They cn not be allowed to return to work. They will sabotage opertations
Actually, Friedman said he was all for the revolution, he just didn’t want it “right now.” I’m sure Friedman is in love with the idea of the Green New Deal. He’s just afraid it is too early. But 2024 isn’t.
Im asking my liberal friends-who would you vote for today of the current candidates?
The rats do not have a clue about the upcoming BLOWOUT LANDSLIDE for President Trump. It will be another fun election night to see the gnashing of teeth and tears tears tears... LOL
And yet, the idiots over at Fox News persist in saying that Trump is incapable of this kind of thinking or strategy! Well, they said Reagan was dumb too.
BS
Fox features the president and his people unexpurgated, live, all the time
Liberal George McGovern lost 49 states in the first Presidential election I voted in. These candidates make him look positively conservative.
best comment of the day! used their own tactics against them... LOL
McGovern voters re mostly dead
I would suggest that around 15-percent of Democratic voters...have already settled on the idea of Trump winning, and it’ll double by October.
This first debate episode didn’t really leave anyone with the Obama-feeling and it’s like....they have to put on a show, just to pretend November 2020 will amount to something.
Toss on the fact that analysts now say Trump will have 1.5-to-2 billion dollars in campaign money collected by summer 2020 (saw that this week). It’s rank-and-file working-class guys donating. My humble guess is that Trump will develop ad’s that will add to his upsurge, and to house members in districts that can be ‘taken’. It isn’t just him winning....it’s Senators, Representatives, Governors, and state houses. Go imagine how the Census goes, and redistrict drawing taking place...with five states added to GOP-control and weaker Democratic district maps being drawn.
He doesn’t disagree with the policies he just realizes that they aren’t playing in flyover country.
LOL - DU has a thread on this. Some think it’s a crap article because Trump’s not a moderate and he won. Others think it’s true and they need to elect Biden. - Really what’s not to love about this? ;-)
