That isn’t a huge surprise. One of my friends is a teacher (Libertarian, not Leftist), and she says they seem to make it confusing on purpose.
I suppose another reason is that most of the teachers follow the herd and don’t think for themselves.
Um what is Janus?
In the Peoples’ Republic of Pennsyltucky teachers are only allowed to opt out of the PSEA (NEA affiliate) for a very brief window (10-15 days) at the ratification of new contracts, typically no sooner than ever third year but sometimes as long as four or five years.
Seems to be in defiance of the SCOTUS and Janus.
Getting little digs in? What a rude thing to say.
We might remember, there was a time when the NEA, before its union days, actually published a book which might help us today, as seen here
Janus Bump!!!!!!!!!!!
I'd wager about 51% of the electorate is super rude.
Domination of the female and domination of the herd. What am I talking about? Insects.
But do you want to belong to that 51% of rude people? I belong to a teacher organization at dues of $10.50 per month. Main reason is for liability insurance. I will say it’s a pretty middle of the road group......to somewhat conservative. It is completely voluntary. The woman who currently runs it sends out great info on what the state legislature is working on.
But I would say the main reason people belong is for the liability insurance. They will also answer all legal questions anyone may have, usually within 24 hours.
I have nothing against insurance, per se. Plus, if its about unions, you know, those big unions have much more up their sleeve than insurance. Some people do know this—like at least 16%.
The National Education Association (NEA) adopted an official position in support of a fundamental right to abortion during its Representative Assembly over the weekend. linky
Interestingly the group I belong to is relatively small. I teach in a majority black district....rated F. Lots of dysfunctional kids. One of my co workers had 1/2 her class under DHS services the year before last. There is another group which is under the NEA umbrella & it costs twice as much. WITH THE EXACT SAME SERVICES! The first back to school to school day for all district faculty/staff the NEA connected organization makes a presentation. Never once has mine presented. It’s political & our administration is black. I have tried telling people that the other organization is 1/2 the cost with the same benefits. You want to waste money, have at it.
Got a degree in education - many teachers K-12 don’t understand the English language....they say things like, “And when he got there, do you know what he seen”....
Helps to learn Latin, but translating any language is a great exercise to learn how to write. As a rule they don’t they teach Latin in public schools. Best time is grade school and middle school (not high school) and that’s what a lot of the private schools are doing.
I guess it might have a use since the roots of many of our words come from Latin - but it’s a dead language...that’s one of the reasons I figure I never ‘got it” as a young Catholic and ended up wandering as an Agnostic for decades before finding Christ....Latin masses growing up and I knew the noises to make after hearing the priest make his noises but didn’t know what the heck it meant...and the “Bible” classes weren’t really about the Bible but about Church canons and the such...Christ rarely came up as a topic.
